On the 19th, "I Want to Know That" will trace the truth behind the nursing assistant drug death case that occurred in Asan, South Chungcheong Province.
- Sudden death and shocking cause
Around 11:21 a.m. on May 30th last year, a call was received at 119. The call reported that a former girlfriend who had come home together around 4 a.m. that day woke up to find the woman unresponsive. The deceased woman was 24 years old nursing assistant, the late Park Ji-in. She had no known illnesses and showed no external injuries related to her death; why did she suddenly die?
About 20 days later, shocking autopsy results emerged. The cause of death was methamphetamine (Philopon) poisoning at a lethal dose. The ex-boyfriend, Mr. A, who made the report, claimed during police questioning that Ji-in showed curiosity about the drugs that she had stored at home and ingested them mixed in a drink. He said that after Ji-in took a bath and they both went to sleep, he woke up to find her deceased.
- Did she ingest it herself? vs Was she secretly given it?
"As a nursing assistant, doesn't she have medical knowledge? Knowing how dangerous drugs are, why would she take them and die?"
- The late Park Ji-in's mother
Since she was far from drugs and was a nursing assistant who received safe medication training at the hospital, the bereaved family argues that Ji-in could not have self-administered the drugs. They also suspect that Ji-in, who had never been late to work, would not do such a thing the day before she was due to go to work, and believe that ex-boyfriend Mr. A secretly gave her a drink mixed with drugs while she was drunk.
On the other hand, Mr. A claims he absolutely did not mix drugs into any drinks. He stated that he accidentally met Ji-in, whom he had broken up with a year ago, that day early morning and that after consensual intercourse they were talking when she first showed interest in the drugs. He stated that he clearly witnessed Ji-in, who ingested the drink containing drugs, take a bath and go to sleep without any issues.
- "Mr. A mixed drugs into the drink and put her in and out of the bathtub," said the informant.
The report that came into "I Want to Know That" stated that an inmate in the same prison heard from Mr. A that he had put the victim in and out of the bathtub. If his statement is true, it contradicts Mr. A's claim that Ji-in entered the bathtub by herself. If he really put Ji-in in the bathtub filled with water, what could have been the reason?
Meanwhile, there were circular wounds about 2.5 cm in diameter symmetrically located on both soles of Ji-in's feet. The wounds, presumed to be burn marks, raise the question of how they were formed. Could they provide a clue to unraveling the mystery of her drug use and death? What led Ji-in to head to Mr. A's house that day, and what was the context of her drinking the drug-laced beverage?
