Actor Ryu Kyung-soo mentioned the efforts he made for the “YADANG.”
On the 18th, an interview with actor Ryu Kyung-soo for the movie “YADANG: The Snitch” (directed by Hwang Byeong-guk, provided/distributed by Plus M Entertainment, produced by HYBE Media Corp.) was held at a café in Samcheong-dong, Seoul.
A broker designing the drug trade in South Korea, a “YADANG” member striving to rise higher, and a “prosecutor” committed to eradicating drug crime are interconnected with differing motives in the crime action film “YADANG: The Snitch.”
Ryu Kyung-soo plays the role of the arrogant villain, “Jo Hoon,” the son of a presidential candidate, and delivers a powerful performance.
On that day, Ryu Kyung-soo spoke about his hobbies, saying, “I truly love discovering good restaurants. I feel a place is delicious when it’s worn down. I find kiosks quite disappointing. They lack emotion.”
He continued, “I know we can’t help the times, but I believe we need the emotion of asking, ‘What’s delicious?’ When filming in rural areas, it’s essential to find good restaurants.”
In response to the question, ‘Are you currently managing your weight?’ he replied, “Right now, I’ve been more attentive because of ‘Our Unwritten Seoul.’ But I’ll be done filming soon.”
He particularly noted that regarding weight management for the “YADANG,” “This comes from misunderstandings and biases. People think that if you use drugs, you’ll lose weight, but that’s not the case. They say that drug users have a huge appetite. In fact, those who lose weight might spend money meant for food on drugs.”
He added, “I didn’t think (weight) was particularly important. Of course, I also wondered, ‘Should I lose a lot of weight?’ But the director said that wouldn’t be necessary and explained the cases of addicts who hadn’t lost weight.”
