(Interview ② continues) Park EunBin from ‘Hyperknife’ expressed her affection for junior actor Yoon ChanYoung.
On the morning of the 15th, an interview was held with Park EunBin, the lead actor of the Disney+ drama ‘Hyperknife,’ at a café in Jongno District, Seoul.
‘Hyperknife’ is a medical thriller that depicts the fierce confrontation between SeOk (played by Park EunBin), a once-promising genius doctor, and her mentor DeokHee (played by Sul KyungGu), who caused her downfall.
When asked about her chemistry with Yoon ChanYoung, who plays Seo YoungJoo, a character that unconditionally follows SeOk, Park EunBin noted, “ChanYoung is a friend with a good attitude. In ChanYoung’s case, he is very serious by nature. Now that I have many junior actors on set, I find it very respectful when a junior well regards me, and they seem to exist well without me worrying about them. So I was very grateful.”
However, while SeOk and Seo YoungJoo are the characters who spend the most extended period together in the story, since the focus is on SeOk and Choi DeokHee’s relationship, there are many omissions in Seo YoungJoo’s narrative. In this regard, Park EunBin said, “I think ChanYoung had many concerns due to the omitted narratives. It was cute how each time he had those worries, he would ask me how to express them better. Just having those kinds of concerns shows a love for the role. When I meet actors with that mindset on set, I feel good. I can’t help but prefer those who show their efforts over those who don’t. In that sense, when ChanYoung told me that he interprets his role as only thinking of a young lady, I thought, ‘Right, right,’ and found it admirable.”
Regarding Park ByungEun, who plays Han HyunHo, an anesthesiologist aiding SeOk’s activities as a shadow doctor, Park EunBin remarked, “There are many emotionally intense scenes, so I generally manage my energy efficiently, but being human, I sometimes feel drained. During those times, he humorously recognized it and, as a laughter hunter, made me laugh. Thanks to that, I was always able to smile. I want to take this opportunity to genuinely express my gratitude. While acting alongside seniors, they are incredibly talented. I often shared thoughts like, it would have been more fun if the seniors could show more through their roles. Of course, I spent time talking small when Sul KyungGu wasn’t around,” conveying the atmosphere on set.
When asked about Park ByungEun expressing a desire to resolve the unfulfilled narrative of his character in Season 2, Park EunBin joked, “It seems like only the seniors heard about Season 2.” She added, “I don’t know. For now, since it hasn’t been long since it was released, the work itself is still craving a lot of love. Many people say they will watch after it has been fully released. For those who enjoyed it, I hope they will help spread the word actively, and it would be great if a lot of people could watch it,” expressing cautious thoughts regarding Season 2.
