(Following Interview ②) Actor Yoo Hae-jin from the film ‘YADANG: The Snitch’ shared his beliefs regarding OTT series, praising ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines.’

Yoo Hae-jin conducted an interview on the morning of the 15th at a café in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. He spoke with domestic reporters about the film ‘YADANG: The Snitch’ (directed by Hwang Byeong-kuk, provided/distributed by Plus M Entertainment, produced by HYBE Media Corp).

‘YADANG: The Snitch’ is a crime action film that unfolds as a broker seeking to establish a drug market in South Korea, a prosecutor aiming for higher ranks, and a detective who is fully committed to eradicating drug crimes intertwine with different goals. In this film, Yoo Hae-jin plays the ambitious prosecutor Goo Kwan-hee.

Yoo Hae-jin stated, “I want to create good works,” and discussed his criteria for selecting projects: “I hope the story is not typical and feels fresh. It seems that a lot of fresh ideas come from webtoons. I wish there were more films like that.”

Remarkably, he chooses the scripts for his projects alone, making him a rare actor who has not worked on any OTT series until now. In this context, Yoo Hae-jin noted, “I have a deep attachment to films. I’m used to it. When I hear from those who participate in OTT projects, they say it’s almost the same as the film set, but there’s a bit of worry and fear about a system I haven’t tried. However, if it’s a work worth trying, I’m all in.”

Despite the tough circumstances in the film industry, he candidly said, “It’s a general trend, but how can I change that? However, as someone who has continued making films, I feel regret. I hope spring days come again.”

Yoo Hae-jin admitted, “I actually don’t watch OTT content much,” and expressed surprise regarding actor Park Hae-joon’s appearance in the Netflix series ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines,’ saying, “Wow, I saw that!”

He praised, “I heard that ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines’ made him cry like a baby after watching up to episode 6. Lee Yeo-won was incredible. He shared that story. Of course, it was not just because the outcome was good; even if ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines’ didn’t perform well at the box office, I thought it was such a great work simply depicting life. Lee Yeo-won was someone I briefly worked with during ‘Sweet and Sour,’ whom I’ve always liked, and they’re truly amazing. I really cried while watching it.”

Yoo Hae-jin remarked, “Strangely, I found myself preparing for that situation. It reminded me of my mother, thinking, ‘Moms used to do that.’” However, he added, “I can’t do it like Yang Kwan-sik. I’m not that extreme. It’s rare to admire just one person from such an early age. You might end up parting ways unexpectedly.” and laughed.

‘YADANG: The Snitch’ will be released on the 16th.
