An 'Ask Us Anything Fortune Teller' domestic violence victim expressed mental trauma.

In the episode aired on the 14th, a participant who wanted to escape from the ongoing trauma of remarriage and continuous abuse appeared with her aunt on KBS Joy 'Ask Us Anything Fortune Teller'.

On this day, the participant drew attention by taking medication upon her appearance. Struggling to speak, she shared, 'My mother passed away when I was in my early 20s. I have not been able to overcome the child abuse and trauma I suffered at the hands of my mom, and I have been receiving psychiatric treatment. How can I shake this off and live like a person?'

Upon hearing about the domestic violence from her mother, Seo Jang-hoon asked about her father. In response, the participant said, 'It's complicated. There have been four men who passed through my life. I don't know my biological father at all,' causing shock. The sibling relationships were also complicated. The first stepfather had children, but the first half-brother was sent away without knowing his biological mother's existence, and the half-sibling born from the third stepfather lived with their aunt for a while before being returned to their biological father due to circumstances.

The participant further revealed, 'The second stepfather protected me from my mom's abuse. When my stepfather was not around, I was neglected and not fed,' adding that there was neglect even after the divorce from the second stepfather, which shocked everyone.

When the participant was in the 3rd or 4th grade, her mother moved to Bucheon after divorcing her second husband and began living with a common-law partner. Reflecting on her common-law partner, she recalled, 'That person would drag me up to the rooftop in the freezing winter night, just wearing my underwear when I didn't listen to him.' During this time, her mother not only stood by but also blamed the participant.

Later, the participant shared that her mother got married for the last time to her third husband, gave birth to a child, and began to discriminate against and abuse her, ultimately sending her to an orphanage. She recounted, 'One morning, she packed my things and took me to a temporary shelter. When the shelter staff saw me, they said, 'So you're Hyun-joo.' At that moment, I felt, 'Finally, I'm being abandoned.' She mentioned that she spent two years until she entered the 1st grade of middle school.

The participant secretly visited her mother and left a note asking her to come pick her up, stating she would do all the household chores diligently, and explained how she was able to return home.

However, the abuse from her mother did not stop. The participant shared, 'I was locked in a room, beaten, and being grasped by my hair was a norm. I also had to take care of my younger siblings. School was put on the back burner while I did all the household chores,' leading to her eventual struggle with parenting depression.

When asked when her mother passed away, the participant revealed that she unexpectedly died at the age of 39. Following this event, she said, 'My aunt took me in. As I entered my aunt's house, symptoms of mental illness began to emerge,' explaining that she was diagnosed with schizophrenia and depression in the hospital, saying, 'I see my mom pointing and saying, 'I died, yet you are alive.'

As time passed, the participant admitted that her symptoms worsened to the point where she now experiences dissociative amnesia. Seo Jang-hoon, addressing the participant's desire to let go of her past, noted, 'Even if you want to receive a sincere apology, the person is not here. The only others who might apologize are two of your stepfathers, but they would likely say, 'I disciplined you because I considered you my child.'

While discussing this, she added, 'The way to forget even a little of these bad memories is to keep your body and mind busy. If you do nothing, various thoughts will make it harder for you.'

When the participant expressed her struggle, saying she couldn't hold on for three months, Seo Jang-hoon advised, 'You are still young and have many days ahead of you. It is not the time to be tied to your past; what is more important is how you will truly live your life. You don't have time to blame others. Set a one-year goal and just endure for that year. Just do it.'

Lee Soo-geun also remarked, 'You look so beautiful when you smile. Try to make an effort. Set a goal for yourself. Think about what makes you happy.'
