Actors with millions of followers sparked controversy after explicit photos and posts rated for 19 years and older were uploaded to their official account.
Nam Yoon-soo communicated through a platform with fans on the 13th, posting, "I was driving, and what’s this repost? Did I get hacked?" and added, "There was something strange that got posted, but fans informed me, phew."
He then revealed his Instagram algorithm, saying, "This is the only stuff in the algorithm, so I guess it might be a hack?" and expressed doubt, saying, "I didn’t even know if something pressed it, was it a malicious ad?"
In particular, the reposted content on Nam Yoon-soo's personal social media was explicitly photographed, depicting a woman's important parts symbolized by balloons, which caused frowns. Nam Yoon-soo clarified, saying, "Did I get hacked?" and "There was something strange that got posted, but fans informed me," and "I didn’t even know if something pressed it, was it a malicious ad?" He indicated that the posts were not uploaded by him. The content has now been deleted from his social media.
Regarding this, an official from Nam Yoon-soo's agency told OSEN, "We also received reports from fans and checked the social media. Actor Nam Yoon-soo was driving, and his mobile phone was in his pocket," explaining that the post was uploaded while the phone was in the pocket.
They also added, "In a hurry, after confirming, actor Yoon-soo deleted the post right away. Seems like he didn’t even know what had been uploaded."
A similar incident occurred four months ago. It involved Park Seong-hoon, the lead actor of 'Squid Game' season 2.
Park Seong-hoon, who was receiving global attention just after the release of the Netflix original series 'Squid Game 2,' caused a stir after posting explicit material on December 30 of last year. He quickly deleted it after posting a parody cover of a Japanese adult film that mocked 'Squid Game.'
BH Entertainment, Park Seong-hoon's agency, stated, "Amid an influx of direct messages on Park Seong-hoon's social media, it seems that he accidentally uploaded while checking the messages," adding, "The actor was also very surprised and feels very sorry for making such a mistake during this time. We will be careful to ensure that this does not happen again."
However, the controversy did not subside, and the next day, the agency reiterated, "It seems that he intended to save it to send to the company representative due to potential issues, but it accidentally got posted on social media." They added, "It’s clear that the actor himself is extremely upset and surprised. He is currently reflecting a lot on this."
Ultimately, Park Seong-hoon appeared in an interview for 'Squid Game 2,' tearfully apologizing for the controversy and bowing his head. He said, "It’s actually a time when I should be happier than anyone else since 'Squid Game 2' has been released, but I think I caused a lot of turmoil. He hesitated and couldn't continue speaking, wiping away tears, saying, "While the work and the character are receiving a lot of attention and love, this happened.." He added, "It’s extremely upsetting, and as you mentioned, I feel deeply sorry for our entire team during this time," while shedding tears.
However, the aftershocks did not end there, and he eventually had to drop out of the male lead role in the upcoming tvN drama 'The Chef of Tyrant.' At that time, opinions were divided on Park Seong-hoon's departure with reactions ranging from "Isn't this too much?" to "It's a romance drama, so it’s right to leave for the sake of the work," sparking a debate.
Following Park Seong-hoon, Nam Yoon-soo's 19-rated uploads on social media may have been an "accident," but the damage to the well-established image seems unavoidable.
