Singer Nana pointed out the attitude of The Boyz member Sunwoo in a comment, and Sunwoo spoke directly about it.
On the 13th, Sunwoo expressed his frustration regarding the controversy over his attitude, saying through a fan communication platform, "But I really wouldn’t act like that behind the scenes. There are fans in front of me, would I really yell at the security guard to pick up my AirPods? I am just so dumbfounded."
Recently, a video captured The Boyz member Sunwoo not picking up the earphones he dropped while moving, instead shouting "my earphones" and waiting. The security guard picked up the earphones and handed them to Sunwoo, who received them with one hand.
After the video spread on social media, former After School member Nana commented, "He seems to need to be scolded," to which a netizen rebutted, "It is really disappointing and thoughtless to judge someone based on just a few seconds of fragmentary video and to post such comments as a public figure. Isn’t that a bit thoughtless for a senior in the entertainment world? Please don’t casually post comments when you know how painful these things can be to someone," to which Nana replied, "You can tell the whole story from just a glimpse."
Especially, Nana stated, "I shouted loudly that they were my AirPods while looking at them. He didn’t move a single step in a place just a few steps away. Who was he telling to pick them up? Was he unable to move? Perhaps due to the age difference? Should the security guard be the one to act? Was he implying that the item he dropped should come to him?" and repeatedly pointed out Sunwoo's behavior.
As the controversy grew, Sunwoo said to fans, "I tried to reflect on how I was perceived, but I get so much hate from those who cross the line with a few seconds of video. People are truly scary. It should be moderated; either speak up or stay silent. If I don’t speak out, I feel like it’ll fester and rot. I’m sorry if there are fans in Derby who don’t want to hear any of this."
He continued, "I’m used to being criticized. Please stop worrying about me. I’m really okay. They might be uncomfortable, but the fans who have known me for years understand me better than those who have seen me for a few seconds. I want to avoid being misunderstood as a bad person. So, I will work harder to ensure that I appear ‘gentlemanly’ at first glance so that the fans don’t have to hear this kind of explanation. I think this is something I need to keep improving on going forward."
Meanwhile, Sunwoo recently acknowledged about the video through a fan communication platform, saying, "I watched the video, and it really just looks like I received it rudely without greeting anyone," but added, "I couldn’t find it after looking for it. It was a situation where I received the item with a ‘thank you’ after it was handed to me. I will act well to prevent such unfair stories from coming out."
