Former EXO member Tao (Huang Zitao) is launching into the serious business of selling sanitary pads.
On the 6th (local time), former EXO member Tao conducted a live broadcast on his social media, mentioning the controversy over the sale of substandard sanitary pads in his country.
Tao expressed his anger, saying, "It's truly disgusting. I cannot accept that corporations sacrifice women's health for profit," and he stated, "I will set up a sanitary pad factory and livestream the production process 24 hours a day," and he expressed his ambition to be under public supervision for the entire process from raw material procurement to packaging.
Additionally, Tao noted that he and his wife, Xu Yiyang, along with female employees, conducted product testing for 90 days and promised to sell them at an affordable price.
Earlier last month, a waste recycling company in China shocked the public by repackaging and selling sanitary pads and diapers intended for disposal. The company is reported to have made up to 30 times the profit.
In China, some critics described Tao's actions as "a strategic move to enhance his brand value."
In response, Tao announced on the 11th, “I have staked my entire honor and future on this,” and stated, “Sales of 50,000 orders will start from the evening.”
In particular, that day, Tao drew attention by conducting tests comparing other brands with his brand of sanitary pads through a live broadcast on his social media and even revealing CCTV footage from the factory.
Meanwhile, Tao debuted as a member of EXO in 2012 but has been active in China since leaving the group in 2015. He also made headlines last December by announcing his marriage to Chinese singer and actor Xu Yiyang.
