Actor Park Ha-na's fiancé and the head coach of the professional basketball team Goyang Sono Skygunners, Kim Tae-sul, has been dismissed from the team, bringing attention to his behavior during a game.
Kim Tae-sul, a former basketball player who played for the Seoul SK Knights, Anyang KGC Ginseng Corporation, Jeonju KCC Egis, Seoul Samsung Thunders, and Wonju DB Promy, is currently the head coach of Goyang Sono Skygunners. Notably recognized as the youngest head coach in Korean professional basketball, he won the gold medal in men's basketball at the 17th Incheon Asian Games in 2017.
However, the joy was short-lived. On the 10th, Goyang Sono Skygunners officially announced Kim Tae-sul's dismissal, stating, "We are grateful for taking on the team during a difficult time, but made the decision to dismiss Kim Tae-sul for the future of the players and the organization."
As a result, Kim Tae-sul suddenly lost his job. He had been appointed as head coach on Nov. 24 last year. Particularly noted for leading the team as the youngest head coach, he ultimately left the team after just five months without completing a full year. This has led to evaluations that poor performance, including the team's failure to qualify for the playoffs after finishing 8th, did not earn him the organization's trust.
In particular, in February, Goyang Sono lost 80-101 to Hyundai Mobis. With a record of 12 wins and 26 losses, Sono fell behind Samsung (12 wins and 25 losses) and was pushed to the bottom. During that game, Kim Tae-sul, who called a timeout, was captured on camera expressing frustration at the players, saying, "Why do a layup shot there? You could just do a jump shot!" Losing his composure when the players didn't follow his instructions.
Ultimately, Sono, which had been a strong candidate for the top six early in the season, has dropped to the bottom, and Kim Tae-sul, who instilled a youthful image in the organization after his appointment, has faced the disgrace of being dismissed by not achieving results, with past game behavior being reevaluated.
Nonetheless, the marriage between Kim Tae-sul and Park Ha-na proceeds without issue. While Kim Tae-sul's situation, losing his job just before such a significant life event as marriage, is unfortunate, fans have shown various reactions, saying, "I hope Park Ha-na can support him well during tough times," "It's a relief that Park Ha-na is beside him at a time like this," "It was a bit upsetting to see him get angry at the players," and "Even though he has been dismissed immediately, I hope to see him grow in another place."
Meanwhile, a representative from Park Ha-na's side stated to OSEN, "Actor Park Ha-na is getting married to head coach Kim Tae-sul." According to reports, the couple will hold their wedding on June 21 at a location in Seoul. They reportedly became a couple due to their shared hobbies, including golf, and decided to marry based on trust and love for each other.
