Actor Yoo Hae-jin candidly spoke about his past earnings.

On the 11th, a new episode of 'Seong Si-kyung's Meeting' titled "Yoo Hae-jin, Park Hae-jun, and the introverted actors who feel awkward together" was released on the YouTube channel 'Seong Si-kyung.'

On that day, Yoo Hae-jin mentioned his past earnings, saying, "I didn’t get that much," in response to Seong Si-kyung's question, "Didn’t your movies do well early on?" He added, "It showed, but I had spent quite a long time doing theater before that."

He confessed, "Back then, if it was 100 a month, it was a bit different on the theater side. It’s a different concept. Among the people doing theater, there was a thought that ‘100 is just fine.’ I really wasn't doing well at all."

He continued, "There was the IMF. It was when I was in the troupe, but I had no idea what was so hard. My life didn’t change at all. It should have been that my spending went down or something, but I thought, ‘What’s so hard about it?’" This remark caught attention.

Regarding his daily life at the time, he said, "It was almost a life in the troupe. We would practice until 3 a.m., then create things. After that, we’d be told to come back by 8 a.m. the next morning. I couldn’t even take a part-time job. So, when I got my grants for a show after finishing a piece, it would be about 500,000 won over two or three months, if I was lucky. I was happy on those days. It was amazing. We would talk about eating like bourgeois. But the truth is, I didn’t experience that much of it."

Yoo Hae-jin also recalled, "Acting was my dream, but I think I wanted to make movies. If I did really well, I thought I would be okay even with a minor role. After coming to Seoul and living the troupe life, I hoped things would get better, while wanting to do movies. I could act and also earn some money. And it had an artistic feel to it. I thought what fit that was film. Back then, it was just a vague thought."
