In 'Culinary Class Wars,' Kim Jaejoong and Kwon Seongjun won the cooking competition.
The competition unfolded in the episode that aired on Nov. 11 on KBS2's entertainment program 'Shin-Sang Chul-Si Culinary Class Wars' (hereinafter referred to as 'Culinary Class Wars'), featuring Lee Yeonbok, Kwon Seongjun, and Park Eunyung.
On that day, culinary master Kwon Seongjun, the winner of the 'Culinary Class Wars,' and Naples Mafia appeared in the 'Culinary Class Wars' studio. As he stepped in as Kim Jaejoong's partner, he ignited his passion, saying, "It's such an honor, and I will do my best to help."
Additionally, the two expressed that they were fans of each other. Kwon Seongjun said, "I have liked Jaejoong since I was very young. To me, he is just the perfect idol."
Then, Boom asked, "If you were to compare Jaejoong to a dish, what would it be?" Kwon Seongjun cleverly responded, "Jaejoong is somewhat like tteokbokki. To explain in three ways: sweetness, spiciness, and girls like it," which impressed everyone. A satisfied Kim Jaejoong embraced him, while Nam Bora exclaimed, "Do you learn things like this in Italy?" Boom also praised him, saying, "You speak so well."
Meanwhile, 'Culinary Class Wars' was held as a special partner episode to celebrate its new look, featuring three teams in competition. Kim Jaejoong and Kwon Seongjun, Hong Jiyoon and Lee Yeonbok, and Nam Bora and Park Eunyung teamed up to prepare 30 portions of a competition menu on-site, receiving evaluations from a panel of 30 experts.
Kim Jaejoong, who showed considerable confidence, responded to a question about the probability of winning, saying, "There are formidable competitors, but we are 99%." Kwon Seongjun added, "You are humble. I see it as 100%."
Kwon Seongjun, who hadn't even prepared a recipe, declared, "(Not only Western cuisine) but Korean cuisine is also something I do well. As of now, my main dish is Italian." He revealed that he had been a cook in the military, stating, "I used to prepare 150 servings a day there. I can prepare 30 servings with my eyes closed." A surprised Kim Jaejoong marveled, "This is a piece of cake."
The reason they showed confidence became clear as cooking began. The two, cooking by eye without measuring, even showcased a flamboyant cooking performance that captured flavor and visuals.
However, a crisis arose for the two. The pressure cooker rice needed steaming, but it was not steaming at all, and the gas burner began to cause delays. In response, Kwon Seongjun strategized, saying, "Let's send it out last."
The two, following their strategy, completed the dish just before the time limit and served warm food to the 30 guests. As a result, Kim Jaejoong and Kwon Seongjun's 'Italian Galbi Rice Bowl' won among the three teams. Kwon Seongjun expressed his gratitude, saying, "Thank you to those who voted for us. We believed that those from the food industry would understand our hand's taste."
