Singer Nam Tae-hyun, who received a suspended sentence for drug use charges, is returning to the stage.
Yoonso Group announced on the 11th that Nam Tae-hyun, Ryu Philip, Kang Hyun-woo, Kim Si-hoon, and Gunzok Crew will participate in the 'K-Pop Week in Hongdae' to be held in May.
'K-Pop Week in Hongdae' is a music festival taking place from May 1 to 11 at various small venues near Hongdae, including the K-Pop Stage, Sang-sang Madang, Musinsa Garage, and H Stage. It aims for close interaction between fans and artists under the slogan 'Closer, More Sincerely.'
Nam Tae-hyun will have an opportunity to communicate with fans through this 'K-Pop Week in Hongdae.' He plans to present a stage that embodies his promise to lead a better life through music that reflects on his past, featuring messages of regret, longing, and recovery.
Earlier, Nam Tae-hyun faced criticism due to various incidents, including charges of drunk driving, and caused a stir when he was accused of drug use in 2022.
He was indicted for drug use related to allegations that he injected methamphetamine with a friend at the home of a person in Yongsan District, Seoul, in August 2022, and for using methamphetamine alone abroad in December of the same year. Subsequently, the court sentenced Nam Tae-hyun to one year in prison and two years of probation.
Afterward, Nam Tae-hyun confessed to financial difficulties through broadcasts and emphasized his determination to stay sober while updating on his album preparations. Last March, he noted, "I made a huge mistake, but I am genuinely reflecting on it and living each day. I have left the rehabilitation center and secured space in the same building to strengthen my resolve to stay sober."
In January, he quietly returned to the music industry by releasing a new song titled 'At the End of the Night' and is now beginning full-scale activities through this performance.
