"The chef of 'Pyeon Restaurant,' Lee Yeon-bok, has started Spartan training."
On the Nov. 11 broadcast of KBS2's entertainment program 'Newly Launched Pyeon Restaurant' (hereinafter 'Pyeon Restaurant'), a competition unfolded among chefs Lee Yeon-bok, Kwon Seong-jun, and Park Eun-young.
On that day, Hong Ji-yoon was taken by surprise upon receiving a mission to prepare a rice bowl dish for 30 people. While feeling concerned, he displayed a confident attitude, saying, "I have to do it, I think I can! I trust Master Yeon-bok and will do my best for the win because I have strong support."
Later, when Lee Yeon-bok met in the 'Pyeon Restaurant' studio, he abruptly asked, "Are you ready to cook?" and began the knife skills test. Hong Ji-yoon mentioned, "I don't remember using a knife," and while trying, he hilariously cut up the ingredients in a chaotic manner as expected.
Lee Yeon-bok commented, "It's not very bad, but I give it 20 out of 100," and coldly assessed, "From a failing standpoint, it looked that way. You need to practice a lot." In particular, Lee Yeon-bok amazed everyone by demonstrating his ability to cut onions without looking, stating, "It's important to pay attention to knife skills when you first start cooking."
Lee Yeon-bok gave Hong Ji-yoon 10 days to practice his knife skills, and 10 days later, Hong Ji-yoon proudly showcased his improved cutting skills in front of Lee Yeon-bok, saying, "I cut every day." Lee Yeon-bok responded, "I can see that you practiced," while Hong Ji-yoon added, "I really practiced hard. I might not look like it now, but I also had cupping therapy."
Regarding Hong Ji-yoon's knife skills, Lee Yeon-bok said, "I give it 80 out of 100. That's as a beginner," but added, "Based on professional chef standards, it would be 30 out of 100. After 1-2 years, if he still cuts like that, he would still get blasted with insults."
