The group BTS has added a song with 500 million streams on Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform.
The title track 'IDOL' from BTS's repackage album 'LOVE YOURSELF 結 'Answer'' released in August 2018 surpassed 500 million cumulative streams (based on the April 8 chart). This is BTS's 15th song to reach 500 million streams.
'IDOL' is a song with South African dance style, layered with traditional Korean rhythms and sounds over African beats, supported by trendy EDM sources and a trap groove rap. Upon its release, it gained worldwide popularity, peaking at 11th on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and 21st on the UK Official Singles Chart. In 2022, it received a 'platinum' certification in the streaming institutional sector from the Japan Record Association.
'IDOL (Feat. Nicki Minaj),' featuring Nicki Minaj, is also nearing 200 million streams on Spotify with approximately 190 million plays.
