JYP Entertainment has shown its dedication.
JYP Entertainment donated 300 million won to the international relief and development NGO Korea World Vision (Chairman Cho Myung-hwan) on the 28th for emergency relief and child support following the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Myanmar.
The sponsorship funds will be used for emergency food and daily necessities support, water and sanitation support, child medical expense support, psychosocial support, and other necessary expenditures for World Vision's "2025 Myanmar earthquake response project" targeting 11 villages including Tada-U and Naypyidaw in Mandalay Province, Myanmar, affected by the earthquake.
JYP Entertainment expressed, "We extend our deepest condolences to those who lost their lives in the earthquake and to the bereaved families, and to everyone who lost their homes in an instant," and stated, "We especially hope that, through the support for medical expenses, the children and families can swiftly recover from this disaster and return to their daily lives and health."
Chairman Cho Myung-hwan of Korea World Vision noted, "Following the emergency relief for the recent forest fire, I express my deep gratitude to JYP Entertainment for continuously conveying warm hearts as they empathize with the suffering of our neighbors through the emergency relief for the major earthquake in Myanmar," and added, "World Vision will do its utmost to ensure that the precious funds you provided are delivered well to the earthquake-affected areas and used where they are most needed."
Since 2021, JYP Entertainment has been supporting medical expenses for children overseas, including Mongolia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, the Philippines, Mexico, and Brazil, through its representative CSR initiative, "EDM (Every Dream Matters! Every dream in the world is precious)." As part of these corporate social responsibility activities, additional support for children in Myanmar who urgently need assistance due to the earthquake damage has also been decided.
Additionally, JYP Entertainment is taking the lead in rapid relief activities during disasters both domestically and internationally. It has donated 500 million won for the prevention of COVID-19 spread in 2020, 300 million won for support for the wildfire damage in Gangwon and Gyeongbuk in 2022, and 500 million won for aid to children and local residents affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria in 2023. Recently, it has also provided an additional 500 million won to help children and disaster victims affected by the large wildfire that occurred in the Gyeongsangnam-do and Gyeongsangbuk-do regions, continuously practicing social responsibility.
Meanwhile, World Vision is conducting emergency assessments for effective support immediately after the occurrence of the major earthquake in Myanmar, along with implementing urgent relief responses to assist affected children and residents. Korea World Vision is also running a fundraising campaign for emergency relief support following the Myanmar earthquake.
