In the KBS2 program "Study and Play," the "Sports Department Trio" of Kim Byung-hyun, Kim Young-kwang, and Lee Dae-hoon drew laughter with an unprecedented parade of wrong answers.
In the second episode of the KBS2 entertainment show "Study and Play," which aired on Nov. 7, together with the intergenerational MC trio Kang Ho-dong, Kim Ho-young, and Lee Soo-yeon, former Major League Baseball player Kim Byung-hyun and his sons Kim Tae-yun (5th grade) and Kim Joo-sung (2nd grade), Taekwondo Olympic gold medalist Lee Dae-hoon and his son Lee Ye-chan (1st grade), actor Kim Jeong-tae and his son Kim Si-hyeon (6th grade), former Baby Vox member Yang Eun-ji and her daughter Lee Ji-eum (2nd grade), former national goalkeeper Kim Young-kwang and his daughter Kim Ga-in (5th grade), and actor Yoon Hee-seok and his daughter Yoon Hae-sol (2nd grade), model-turned-actor Kim Bin-woo and her daughter Jeon Yul (2nd grade), and son Jeon Won (1st grade) participated together in the empathy quiz.
During the broadcast that day, parents who returned to their elementary school days delivered a series of unimaginable wrong answers, while their children's unpredictable 100% genuine reactions generated delightful laughter. The seven parents who faced the first question were presented with a question from the "6th-grade Korean subject" to find the authors of "Hayaoga" and "Dansimga," hitting a snag right from the start. In particular, Kim Byung-hyun, with the hint "one of the two is a king," insisted, "The answer is Crown Prince Sado," claiming, "Aren't there two people, Sado and the Crown Prince?" making his son Kim Tae-yun despair. Ultimately, Kim Byung-hyun exclaimed, "Is it someone who came out of an egg? Isn't it Taejo Lee Hwang?" unleashing a barrage of absurd wrong answers, while Lee Dae-hoon retorted, "Isn't it poet Yoon Bong-gil?" and Kim Young-kwang asked, "Isn't Taejo different from Wang Geon?" causing a stir in the studio. Kang Ho-dong remarked on the surreal responses of these athletes, saying, "Given such outlandish answers, entertainers really need to step up their game."
As both the first and second questions were answered correctly only by Kim Jeong-tae, the third question presented was a "4th-grade math problem." All the parents fell into confusion over a shape rotation problem, while the children expressed frustration, saying, "Can't you understand that?" sending hints to their parents that sparked laughter. However, Kim Byung-hyun and Kim Young-kwang, putting aside their children's eagerness, lamented, "I think I might get motion sickness," and "I almost lost my mind rotating shapes," making the kids sigh. Yoon Hee-seok, unable to deduce the answer, saw his daughter Yoon Hae-sol burst into tears.
As the parents experimented with answering their elementary school children's questions, learning about their struggles, Kang Ho-dong garnered attention by sharing his own experiences. Yang Eun-ji revealed, "I'm actually a mom who pushes my kids to attend school in Seoul. The kids rebut, 'Why are you telling me to do it when you couldn't?' I think if my child does it, they might live better than I did." In response, Kang Ho-dong shared, "Since I only focused on sports, I wanted to be a good dad but didn't know how. So, I sought advice from an expert," continuing, "The expert said, 'The very fact that you're trying to be a good dad means you're already a good dad,'" which touched the hearts of all the parents present, including Yang Eun-ji.
Meanwhile, the top spot of the day was jointly claimed by Kim Jeong-tae, who effortlessly solved challenging problems, and Lee Dae-hoon, who showcased his skills in the physical education questions. Unfortunately, first-time participant Yoon Hee-seok finished with a disappointing score of 0.
Following the second episode of "Study and Play," where parents returned to their elementary school days and shared laughter with their cheerful children, various online communities and social media reflected reactions such as, "'Study and Play' is really great. I missed programs like this so much," "Seeing Kim Byung-hyun, Kim Young-kwang, and Lee Dae-hoon getting questions wrong was refreshing. It's so funny," "Are these elementary school questions? They’re surprisingly difficult," "The kids being so earnest with every question is adorable," and "The qualification of a good dad was touching. I relate to that so much."
