[OSEN] 'Buried Hearts' has once again set a new personal best viewership record.
According to the viewership rating company Nielsen Korea on April 5, the April 4 broadcast of the SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Buried Hearts' (written by Lee Myung-hee, directed by Jin Chang-kyu) recorded a rating of 14% in the metropolitan area and 13.4% nationwide, breaking its own record again. This is an enormous figure, ranking first in viewership among all channels and programs airing at the same time on Friday and during the week. The highest momentary rating soared to 15.7%, breaking through the critical 15% barrier. The 2049 viewership rating was also 3.5%, making it the top of its time slot. 'Buried Hearts' is racing towards a climax alongside its story with soaring ratings.
In this broadcast, Yeom Jang-seon (played by Heo Jun-ho) put Seo Dong-joo (played by Park Hyung-sik) and Heo Il-do (played by Lee Hae-Young) in a crisis, now realizing they are father and son. The fallen Heo Il-do and Seo Dong-joo, shocked by seeing Heo Il-do in that state, depicted the tragic fate of this father-son duo.
Earlier, Heo Il-do resolved to kill Seo Dong-joo with a gun he received from Yeom Jang-seon and called him out. However, before meeting Heo Il-do, Seo Dong-joo learned the shocking truth that Heo Il-do is his biological father. The villain Yeom Jang-seon, anticipating the cruel father-son reunion, even sent the genetic test results to Seo Dong-joo.
Seo Dong-joo aimed the gun at his own head and provocatively said, "Hurry up and shoot. Father." Yeom Jang-seon, who had been watching the entire situation, then told Heo Il-do that Seo Dong-joo is his biological son. Heo Il-do was left in disbelief at the situation. Just then, Heo Il-do's other son, Heo Tae-yoon (played by Yoon Sang-hyun), appeared, bringing the situation to a close. Ultimately, Yeom Jang-seon failed once again in his attempt to kill Seo Dong-joo.
Heo Il-do fell into a pit of anguish over the shocking truth. Looking at Heo Il-do, who said, "Even if I knew you were my son, I would have killed you anyway," Seo Dong-joo was overwhelmed with complicated emotions. Their exchange, where they truly couldn't believe they were father and son while lashing out at each other, evoked pity.
Afterward, Heo Il-do announced a counterattack against Yeom Jang-seon. This was the first time he stood up to Yeom Jang-seon since he had succumbed to him during his college years. Heo Il-do warned Yeom Jang-seon, saying, "How much pleasure did you feel every time you urged your child to kill your own son? It's late, but I will erase the devil named Yeom Jang-seon from my life."
In response, Yeom Jang-seon provoked Cha Gang-cheon (played by Woo Hyun), the chairman of Daesan Group. He had lost 2 trillion won to Seo Dong-joo and revealed that Seo Dong-joo and Heo Il-do are father and son. Cha Gang-cheon, who had just welcomed an illegitimate child into the Daesan family, was engulfed in anxiety over possibly losing both to Seo Dong-joo and Heo Il-do, moving as Yeom Jang-seon had anticipated.
Ultimately, Cha Gang-cheon summoned Seo Dong-joo and Heo Il-do to one location and sent Jo Yang-chun (played by Kim Gi-mu) there. Unaware of this, Seo Dong-joo and Heo Il-do opened up about their feelings for the first time. Despite the inability to get closer, their conversation as blood relatives continued until Jo Yang-chun attacked them.
In the midst of a sudden brawl, Heo Il-do saved Seo Dong-joo and fell with Jo Yang-chun from the second floor. The sight of Seo Dong-joo, shocked as he witnessed this, ended the 13th episode of 'Buried Hearts.' It concluded with Seo Dong-joo’s seething desire for revenge against the absolute evil, Yeom Jang-seon.
'Buried Hearts' has entered its later stages and is displaying developments that can only be described as 'unprecedented.' The three actors, Park Hyung-sik, Heo Jun-ho, and Lee Hae-Young, have enhanced this 'unprecedented' narrative with incredible performances. The unimaginable plot twists surprise the audience, and as they immerse themselves in the actors' powerful acting, 60 minutes fly by in an instant. This is why the remaining three episodes of 'Buried Hearts' are both intriguing and eagerly anticipated.
