As the parents of the five members of the group NewJeans denied rumors of a split, the members began to erase NJZ. When the court ruled in favor of ADOR and declared a ban on independent activities, they stopped NJZ activities and began to erase all traces.
Last month, the Seoul Central District Court Civil Division 50 (Chief Judge Kim Sang-hoon) accepted and ruled on a preliminary injunction request filed by ADOR, a label under HYBE, against the five members of NewJeans regarding the preservation of the agency's status and the signing of advertising contracts. As a result, NewJeans is no longer able to pursue new activities under the name NJZ.
Nevertheless, the members of NewJeans asserted that they could not return, stating that their trust in ADOR has been broken. On the morning of the 3rd, during the first hearing regarding the lawsuit filed by ADOR to confirm the validity of the exclusive contracts against NewJeans, held by the Seoul Central District Court Civil Division 41 (Director General Jeong Hoe-Il), the members expressed through their legal representatives, "Please look into whether NewJeans can trust ADOR, which has completely replaced its management team."
In response, ADOR stated, "NewJeans emphasizes that they cannot perform entertainment activities without former representative Min Hee-jin. It's true that former representative Min contributed to the existence of the current NewJeans, but it doesn't make sense to say that NewJeans cannot exist without Min Hee-jin."
Due to the court's judgment that prohibited independent activities, NewJeans halted the NJZ project and erased all traces of their past. Previously, NewJeans held an emergency press conference in November last year, declaring the termination of their exclusive contract with ADOR, and announced their intention to conduct activities under the name NJZ after soliciting new activity names from fans. Under the NJZ name, they participated in the Complex Con held in Hong Kong last month and were scheduled to release a new song.
However, with independent activities banned, they changed the official social media ID they had opened to communicate with fans under the NJZ name to 'mhdhh_friends,' erasing their traces. This ID signifies the names of the five members of NewJeans: Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and HAEIN. All previously posted content has also been deleted.
Additionally, the official social media account of the parents who had supported the NewJeans members has also been changed from NJZ to the members' names. It is a thorough effort to erase all traces of the NJZ project along with the declaration of a ban on independent activities.
Afterward, the parents of NewJeans issued an official statement actively denying the rumors of a "split." The parents of NewJeans stated on the 4th through their official social media and an official statement, "The claims that a split has occurred among the members' parents are completely false. The members deeply trust and unite with each other. Currently, the members maintain the same position, and we, the parents, also fully respect our children's wishes and consistently support them."
Regarding the issue of a change in parental rights involving one member that arose alongside the court's judgment, they noted, "The rumors regarding Haerin are completely untrue. Both Haerin and her parents have a firm agreement, and speculations regarding other family matters are also all false. Respecting the wishes of a minor child and proceeding with parental rights adjustments is an issue involving another member, and since this family also has a firm agreement between the child and the mother, we request that speculation about this family matter be refrained from as well."
Despite the court's ruling on the preliminary injunction, the five members of NewJeans and their parents continue to express their intention to terminate the contract, and all traces of the NJZ project have been erased. Attention is now focused on whether the members will seek a new direction.
