'Edward Lee's Country Cook' decorated Friday night with good people for healing.
On yesterday (4th) aired tvN's 'Edward Lee's Country Cook (Directed by Kim Kwan-tae)', after Yoon Do-joon, Bae Jung-nam made his appearance as a special guest in Yeosu, creating delicious memories while enjoying various foods with Country Lees.
That day, Go Ah-sung demonstrated her cooking skills by making eggs Benedict for breakfast with Shin Si A and Yoon Do-joon. In particular, for breakfast, she prepared a customized menu for Edward Lee that included an acai bowl with blueberries, honey, and milk, standing out as she does not eat eggs and bacon in the morning. Seeing Shin Si A and Yoon Do-joon enjoying the eggs Benedict, Edward Lee also sought out the remaining food.
After Yoon Do-joon left, Edward Lee and Go Ah-sung headed to meet Byeon Yo-han and the female divers of Yeosu. Those who went out to sea by boat had a hearty lunch with sea cucumber sashimi, cockles, and side dishes made with the divers' care. Edward Lee, enchanted by the sea cucumber sashimi, showed interest by asking about the recipe and noted, 'It was so delicious that my seasickness disappeared.'
The female divers also ate freshly caught abalone from the sea, which sparked envy. Edward Lee said, 'I have never eaten abalone caught directly from the sea. It has a truly special taste. And it has a very clean sea flavor,' and mentioned that fresh seafood inspired him with cooking ideas. He also expressed his honor that the divers showed them their work and raised expectations for dinner.
Meanwhile, at the accommodation, Shin Si A and Bae Jung-nam engaged in a 10-year bet of air games. Bae Jung-nam, who calls himself the 'God of Air', not only remained unfazed by Shin Si A's cough attacks but also won the first match with annoying banter and claimed victory again in the second match, which amused the pair with their sibling-like display.
Moreover, the interactions between Bae Jung-nam, who speaks Busan dialect, and Edward Lee, who is not fluent in Korean, added to the humor. Edward Lee confessed, 'I get that they speak Korean, but I probably understood only about three words in one sentence. I couldn’t comprehend what they were saying, but it made me laugh.'
Above all, the hongoe course prepared by Byeon Yo-han, who enjoys eating fermented products, focused attention on Edward Lee. Amid the unique taste and smell of hongoe, Go Ah-sung and Shin Si A also struggled, while Edward Lee, after eating the hongoe sashimi, humorously grabbed the sweet potato and persimmon served as palate cleansers, eliciting laughter. In contrast, the two-week aged hongoe had less smell and a nutty flavor, which drew positive reactions from Edward Lee, Shin Si A, and Bae Jung-nam.
Thanks to Byeon Yo-han, who wanted to introduce a new taste, Edward Lee, who encountered hongoe, said, 'It’s the opposite of fresh seafood. However, I understand why people like it. It has a very unique flavor. I'm also intrigued that they still make this dish according to tradition. It seems really interesting and has historical value.'
The journey with Bae Jung-nam, which is not yet over, will continue on the 11th (Friday) at 8:40 p.m. on tvN's 'Edward Lee's Country Cook.'
