Member Hyungwon of the group MONSTA X will appear at 'ASEA 2025'.
As the 'Asia Star Entertainer Awards 2025 presented by zozotown' (ASIA STAR ENTERTAINER AWARDS 2025 presented by zozotown, abbreviated ASEA 2025) takes place on May 28 and 29 at K Arena Yokohama in Yokohama, Japan, it was officially announced by the ASEA organizing committee on April 3 that Hyungwon's participation has been confirmed.
Hyungwon, who enlisted on Nov. 14, 2023, is diligently fulfilling his defense obligations as a soldier in the Army. With his discharge approaching on May 13, he has added to expectations for a new and brilliant chapter in his activities after military service by being named in the 'ASEA 2025' lineup.
Hyungwon is expected to serve as an MC on the second day of the awards ceremony, May 29, alongside actress Kim Hye-Yoon and group The Boyz member Younghoon. Although he was the first MC secured for 'ASEA 2025,' the announcement was delayed due to his military service.
Debuting in the music industry in 2015, Hyungwon has established himself as a 'reliable listening and watching performance group' based on his outstanding live performances and producing capabilities. In 2023, he further expanded his musical spectrum by forming the unit Shownu X Hyungwon with the team's leader Shownu. Rather than limiting himself to singing, he has continuously been active in acting, entertainment, MCing, and as a DJ H.ONE, making him a versatile talent, and he is expected to maintain an overwhelming presence at 'ASEA 2025'.
He is also preparing for the resumption of activities as a full group. Hyungwon will celebrate the 10th anniversary of MONSTA X's debut with Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Jooheon, and IM the day after his discharge on May 14.
'ASEA' is an awards ceremony that brings together top stars representing Asia, uniting fans around the world through music. The first edition of 'ASEA,' held in April last year, saw Stray Kids, who won three awards, including the grand award, lead the event, with top artists such as Tomorrow X Together (TXT), DAY6, TREASURE, SHINee's Taemin, and Creepy Nuts in attendance, thrilling music fans.
This year, top-class K-POP artists and leading Asian singers who achieved significant results on the world stage over the past year will also participate to create a glamorous stage. aespa, ATARASHII GAKKO!, &TEAM, BADVILLAIN, ENHYPEN, HANA, Hearts2Hearts, KiiiKiii, NCT WISH, NEXZ, NiziU, n.SSign, SAKURAZAKA46, SKY-HI, THE BOYZ, THE RAMPAGE from EXILE TRIBE, timelesz, and Xdinary Heroes have confirmed their appearances.
On the first day, May 28, the event will be hosted by group The Boyz member Juyeon and IVE member Rae. Actor Jang Geun-Seok will serve as the award presenter for the prestigious grand award on the first day. On the second day, actress Kim Hye-Yoon, MONSTA X's Hyungwon, and The Boyz member Younghoon will serve as MCs. Actor Choo Young-Woo, who is nominated in the acting category, will also join 'ASEA 2025'.
'ASEA 2025' is hosted by Korea's top entertainment sports media 'NEWSEN,' which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, alongside the star and style magazine '@style,' which celebrates its 13th anniversary, and The Star I&M, under the supervision of the ASEA organizing committee and zozotown.
