Comedian Park Sung-kwang's wife, Lee Sol, recalled the difficult times she faced while battling cancer.
Lee Sol shared her experience of suffering from malicious comments and her feelings of distress caused by false information after appearing on SBS 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 - You Are My Destiny' on the 2nd.
Currently battling women's cancer, Lee Sol said, "After resigning, I was naturally preparing for a child, but I was diagnosed with cancer just five months later. Due to the nature of women's cancer, I was unable to have a child, and I felt such guilt for not being able to take care of my health that I was so sorry to my parents and in-laws. The nature of the cancer was not good, so I faced great frustration not knowing if I could live another year or three."
She continued, "I underwent surgery and cytotoxic chemotherapy for six months, had to be careful when going out, couldn't eat properly, vomited daily, lost weight, my skin deteriorated, and my hair fell out... I endured really tough times going back and forth to the emergency room. I am still undergoing treatment while taking medication. That's why I couldn't have a child, and that situation continues even now."
Still undergoing cancer treatment and having time left before a complete recovery, Lee Sol explained the reason for revealing this fact: "It broke my heart to be continuously depicted amidst sensational articles and distorted perceptions as a 'luxurious woman,' 'a woman who doesn’t want to have children,' and 'a woman who uses her husband like an ATM.'"
Following Lee Sol's courageous confession, a lot of support poured in. Lee Sol said, "I suddenly feel that perhaps I have only been absorbed in my emotions, and I feel sorry to my husband and family. I worry that a shadow might be cast over my husband, who brings joy to the public. There were some misreported articles saying things like, 'not knowing how many years I have left,' but that is not true."
Lee Sol also recalled the day she received her cancer diagnosis: "I can never forget that day. After feeling pain so intense that I thought I would die, I realized death is closer than it seems and is definitely not someone else's business. I felt deeply that life is a blessing, a gift, and fleeting. So now, if there is someone I want to see, I see them; if there is something I want to say, I say it; and if there is something I want to express, I express it, so that I won't have regrets. Since then, my motto in life has been 'living a life with fewer regrets.'"
In addition, Lee Sol revealed what she went through during her cancer treatment, sharing photos of neatly arranged cherry tomatoes, broccoli, and bell peppers. In particular, she shared a picture of her head from behind, which is growing back after shaving it during cancer treatment, along with the caption, "This is a photo my husband took, saying my hair looked like an acorn after completing chemotherapy."
Meanwhile, Park Sung-kwang and Lee Sol married on Aug. 15, 2020. The couple has shared their daily lives on SBS 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 - You Are My Destiny.'
