The dispute over the exclusive contract between the group NewJeans and ADOR has officially started.

The Seoul Central District Court's Civil Division 41, presided over by Director General Jeong Hoe-il, will hold the first hearing on the exclusive contract validity lawsuit filed by ADOR against the NewJeans members on the morning of the 3rd.

Although the parties are not required to attend civil lawsuits, there is considerable interest in whether all members of NewJeans will appear in court on this hearing date, following their previous attendance at the provisional injunction hearing.

Earlier, the members of NewJeans held an emergency press conference in November of last year, declaring the termination of their exclusive contract with ADOR. The five members stated that ADOR lacked the will and ability to protect them and claimed that no actions were taken to amend the situation as communicated through a notice.

In contrast, ADOR filed a lawsuit at the Seoul Central District Court to legally confirm that the exclusive contract remains valid against the declaration of contract termination made by the five members.

Additionally, ADOR filed a request for a provisional injunction to preserve the status of the company and to prohibit signing advertising contracts. On the 21st of last month, the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Division 50, presided over by Chief Judge Kim Sang-hoon, accepted and granted ADOR's request for a provisional injunction against the five members of NewJeans regarding 'preserving the status of the company and prohibiting the signing of advertising contracts.'

As a result, the members are also prohibited from engaging in independent activities, including their new name 'NJZ,' without prior approval or consent from ADOR, either personally (including through legal representatives) or through third parties. This restriction remains in effect until the first instance ruling is issued in the lawsuit filed by ADOR against NewJeans regarding the validity of the exclusive contract.

Regarding the ruling, ADOR noted, "We deeply appreciate the wise judgment of the provisional injunction court. As ADOR has legally confirmed its status as the agency of NewJeans, we will fulfill our responsibilities in supporting the artists going forward." However, the NewJeans side stated, "This decision fails to fully consider that the trust of the members in ADOR has completely collapsed," and submitted an application for objection, declaring a halt to activities.

The NewJeans members stated that there is an ongoing main lawsuit to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract between ADOR and the members, and they will clarify once again that the contract was lawfully terminated at the hearing scheduled for April 3rd. Attention is focused on what actions will unfold in the ongoing exclusive contract dispute that will officially begin on that day.
