Singer Kangta and the group Dongbang have renewed their contracts with SM Entertainment, continuing their long journey of 30 years and 20 years respectively.

SM Entertainment announced on the 2nd that it has signed a contract renewal with Kangta and Dongbang. In particular, Kangta and Dongbang have been iconic artists representing SM Entertainment and have been a strong foundation for SM, and based on their strong mutual trust, they have signed another contract renewal and are ready to continue to create synergy in the future.

Kangta, who debuted in 1996 as part of H.O.T., has been with SM since its inception. As a member of H.O.T., Kangta laid the groundwork for K-pop and has continued to gain love with hit solo tracks he produced starting in 2001.

Since becoming a non-executive director at SM in 2014, Kangta has carried out the role of in-house creative director, sharing his know-how with junior artists and contributing to the development of SM's content and new business. Furthermore, he has recently been active as the general producer of the producing label SMASHHIT, working with various writers for the advancement of K-pop.

Dongbang debuted in 2003 and has been with SM for over 20 years. Starting with their debut song 'Hug', they have produced numerous hits including 'Rising Sun', 'Mirotic', and 'Keep Your Head Down', and they continue to enjoy great popularity among global K-pop fans as they celebrate their 22nd anniversary.

SM stated, "Kangta is a valuable artist who has shared in the history of SM, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary. We will actively support Kangta's activities in various areas and work together to create a wonderful future," and added, "We are also happy to be working again with Dongbang. Since Dongbang is a legendary K-pop artist who has helped create the history of SM, we will actively support Yunho and Changmin’s wide-ranging activities in various fields."

With a strong bond with SM, which has been with them for decades, Kangta and Dongbang, known as living legends of K-pop, are increasing expectations for their future endeavors. Attention is focused on what new records Kangta and Dongbang will write in K-pop history together with SM.
