Attorney Yang Na-rae talked about newlywed divorces.
On April 2, during the broadcast of MBC's 'Radio Star,' which was themed 'Law Bless You,' Attorney Yang Na-rae discussed recent divorce cases.
Kim Gu-ra asked, "I saw in recent statistics from the National Statistics Office that the divorce rate has decreased." Attorney Yang Na-rae said, "From my perspective, it seems to be continuously increasing. The statistical data only collects couples who have reported their marriage legally. Nowadays, there are many couples who live together briefly without officially registering their marriage."
Attorney Yang Na-rae noted, "In cases of short-term divorces, the feelings between the parties tend to be negative. They often request alimony to show that the responsibility for the divorce lies with the other party," adding, "Lawyers say that a lawsuit for alimony of 30 million won is more challenging than a partitioning of 3 billion won in assets."
Attorney Yang Na-rae mentioned, "In the past, there were many twilight divorces. These days, although they still occur frequently, newlywed divorces are on the rise. A newlywed divorce is defined as a divorce occurring within four years of marriage," and added, "These days, divorce is not a stigma, and some people say that it’s better to divorce quickly."
Attorney Yang Na-rae remarked, "Nowadays, some parents believe that after three years of marriage, they should provide support," and said, "Parents also think it’s acceptable to delay the marriage registration."
Attorney Yang Na-rae attracted attention by stating, "Even property owned before marriage can be divided based on contribution."
Attorney Yang Na-rae explained about winning divorce lawsuits, saying that they receive a retainer fee and success fees.
