Now, it is acting we can trust and leave it to. The new actor Choi Dae-hoon, who gives confidence just by his grants, evoked the appearance of his father from that time through "When Life Gives You Tangerines."

In the recently released Netflix original series "When Life Gives You Tangerines," the self-deprecating words of Buseong-gil (Choi Dae-hoon), "It was me, I was the fool," struck a chord. Can he be called a villain? To someone, he might be the most familiar father figure. Choi Dae-hoon's dynamic performance overwhelmed viewers, making Buseong-gil feel like a real person.

"When Life Gives You Tangerines" is a Netflix series that tells the adventurous life of a rebellious girl, Aesoon (IU), born in Jeju, and a failure, Kwan-sik (Park Bo-gum), through the four seasons. Since its release, the series has dominated domestic and global charts, becoming a beloved work that spans the world and generations.

Choi Dae-hoon plays the role of Buseong-gil in "X-gil," known for his unrestrained words and rude attitude. He is a character who lives life only by "spirit." In his youth, he spent his time with unrefined looks, and he lived surrounded by bribery rather than sincerity, harboring only grudges. His image as a breadwinner, knowing nothing but himself, seemed childish and selfish. Why was that? No one asked the reason. As time passed, he too became a father. A father who knows how to bow and lie flat for his children. The one who lived by shouting "Hak!" and built his own face of dignity somehow resembled that father from the past.

From his 30s to 60s, Choi Dae-hoon lived fully as Buseong-gil for 30 years. In his youth, he lived flamboyantly, and the middle-aged Buseong-gil was unrestrained, standing tall and placing his hands on his waist to enhance his figure. With age, his belly began to protrude, and his gait became slow, as if touched by time, revealing much more observation than liveliness in his eyes. Strangely, the unpleasant but endearing Buseong-gil became more and more pitiful as our glances met. Choi Dae-hoon did not give Buseong-gil a chance to be hated but made us feel a connection.

Even while shouting "Hak!" and rolling his eyes, Buseong-gil left a "space" in his heart during situations where he was cautious of others. This attention to detail by Choi Dae-hoon made viewers keep watching. It made them not hate but wait. The image of aging awkwardly became more touching. The joy of encountering love from children and the excitement of riding a bicycle with his wife for the first time made us laugh and later brought tears to our eyes. And soon, it reminded us of our own fathers.

Choi Dae-hoon showcased every character perfectly, fitting them as if they were his own clothes, from the psychopathic role of Jo Jin-man in the previously presented Disney+ show "Trigger" to Buseong-gil in "When Life Gives You Tangerines," which feels like a familiar figure close to life. The same goes for his previous works, such as "Model Detective 2," "One Thousand Won Lawyer," and "Monstrum." He also made his mark in special appearances in works like "Sejak, Bewitched Ones" and "Extraordinary Attorney Woo." Through his acting, he captured attention, and with each work, he presented new faces for the characters he portrayed. The strength to love and view all the roles entrusted to him ensured that Buseong-gil would remain a lifetime character for the trusted actor Choi Dae-hoon.

He has confirmed "The Wonderfulls" as his next project and is currently filming. The Netflix series "The Wonderfulls" is a comedy-action adventure about local slackers who gain superpowers through an unexpected incident in 1999, a time when apocalyptic theories were prevailing, as they fight against villains threatening the peace of Haesung City. Choi Dae-hoon will appear in the role of the official nuisance "Son Kyung-hoon" in the show. Expectations are rising for Choi Dae-hoon's new face, which possesses flawed superpowers while facing villains.
