In 'Solo Because', Hwang Jung-eum confessed for the first time about her family background growing up in a divorced home.
On the broadcast of SBS Plus's 'Solo Because' on the 1st, Hwang Jung-eum shared her story about her divorced family.
Previously, Hwang Jung-eum married businessman Lee Yong-don, a former professional golfer, in 2016 and had two sons, but she announced her divorce last February.
Choi Daniel, while discussing Hwang Jung-eum's divorce story, asked, "Is there not a sense of absence for the children? Do you feel sorry as a parent?" In response, Hwang Jung-eum said, "The absence was so great during my first divorce that I felt a lack of apology to the children," adding, "But their father is someone who can come anytime they call."
In particular, on that day, Hwang Jung-eum candidly shared her thoughts about her divorce and her two children, openly discussing her parents' divorce. Hwang Jung-eum said, "My parents also divorced; I grew up in a divorced home."
Hwang Jung-eum said, "However, I was very close to each of my parents; both were happy separately," adding, "They divorced when I was young; I think I grew up at my grandmother's house since the 3rd grade." Hwang Jung-eum continued, "But whenever I had something going on, they gathered together, so no one knew that I came from a divorced home; they filled the areas where I might have felt lacking with love."
Hwang Jung-eum remarked, "There were deficiencies due to my parents' divorce, but the love from each parent doubled because there was an awareness of mutual apology," noting, "I received 2 to 3 times the love and was well raised; therefore, I was not afraid of divorce."
Hwang Jung-eum stated, "Of course, I didn't do everything right, but I chose divorce to be happy. I will do my best to fill the children's lack with love and strive to become a better mom."
