Actor Seo Yea-ji, an icon of various controversies, will appear as the host of 'SNL Korea 7.'

Coupang Play's 'SNL Korea 7' team announced on the 2nd, "Seo Yea-ji, who became the center of attention with her cover of Jennie's 'Mantra' at her first solo fan meeting last December, is expected to join the ranks of 'meme creators' once again with an extraordinary transformation through 'SNL Korea.'"

Seo Yea-ji, who was selected as the second host after Ha Jung-woo, the first guest of season 7, said, "I can't believe I'm the host of 'SNL Korea.' It's an honor to be part of the best comedy show in Korea," and expressed her excitement, saying, "I want to dedicate all my energy to make everyone laugh."

Despite being surrounded by many controversies, Seo Yea-ji accepted the offer to host 'SNL Korea 7' coolly. Previously, she was embroiled in various rumors, including allegations of falsifying her academic background, bullying, and mistreatment of staff, which led to a negative image.

In particular, in 2021, allegations of gaslighting surfaced, claiming that she manipulated actor Kim Jung-hyun during their relationship, causing disruptions on set, leading public sentiment to turn cold. While enjoying popularity for her stunning visuals and strong acting skills, she chose to reflect on herself amid a series of controversies.

Her comeback work, selected a year after the controversies, was the 2022 tvN drama 'Eve.' Although she attracted attention with her strong character portrayal and visuals, it fell short by 2% in soothing the turned hearts of fans. Seo Yea-ji spent her own time once again, and in the meantime, her exclusive contract with the agency Gold Medalist also ended.

In June of last year, she transferred to Sublime and is now working with fellow actors Song Kang-ho, Go So-young, Tiffany Young, Yoon Jeong-hee, Hani, and Kim Yoon-ji. Previously, her agency stated, "We recently organized a dedicated team to monitor malicious posts published on online communities, social media, and portal sites and have appointed a law firm to file the first complaint against over 130 malicious commenters to proceed with the investigation."

Moving past the negative label and the war with malicious commenters, Seo Yea-ji has officially sounded the horn for her comeback. Recently, she was also caught up in a controversy involving Kim Soo-hyun.

Nevertheless, curiosity is building around how she will coolly self-deprecate her own controversies and bring laughter, as she has chosen 'SNL Korea 7' following TV Chosun's 'Heo Young-man's Baekban Gihang' last month.
