Kang Ho-dong successfully started his return to KBS after 10 years through 'Study and Nolbu.'
On the 31st (Monday), the KBS2 entertainment show 'Study and Nolbu' featured star parents with elementary school children solving elementary school problems in a quiz talk show where they put themselves in each other's shoes. The first episode included major leaguer Kim Byung-hyun along with 5th grader Kim Tae-yoon and 2nd grader Kim Ju-seong, taekwondo gold medalist Lee Dae-hoon with 1st grader Lee Ye-chan, actor Han Grew, who received the U.S. President's Education Award, with 2nd graders Choi Da-on, Choi Ra-on, 10-million actor Kim Jung-tae with 6th grader Kim Si-hyun, trot singer and actor Park Kwang-hyun with 3rd grader Park Ha-on, former Baby V.O.X member Yang Eun-ji with 2nd grader Lee Ji-eum, soccer player Kim Young-gwang with 5th grader Kim Ga-in, resulting in a total of 7 families coming together to fill the show with laughter. In particular, Kang Ho-dong, Kim Ho-young, and Lee Su-yeon took on the role of MCs, completing the role of Ieoju that connects generations.
The first episode of 'Study and Nolbu' was the best synergy shown between veteran national MC Kang Ho-dong and 5th grader Lee Su-yeon, who was challenging for the first time as an MC. As they solved quizzes for the child generation, the affection and trust of the parent generation, which did not lose their smiles, warmed the living room theater. The 7 stars representing the parent generation competed in 6 questions corresponding to each elementary school grade. The final winner could get the gift their child wanted, and those who scored full marks on all questions could graduate.
Kim Byung-hyun said, “I have to get the 1st-grade question right,” while secretly hoping for the 1st-grade questions. However, when the first question was about naming 3D shapes from the 6th grade, he started to lose focus. After Yang Eun-ji was the only one to answer the first question correctly, she could not hide her pride and asked, “Did I get it right by myself?” Throughout the question, Kim Byung-hyun made an unexpected request, saying, “Give me subjective questions as 1, 2, 3, or 4,” to which Lee Dae-hoon corrected him, “Aren’t these objective questions?” A notable moment occurred when Kim Byung-hyun humorously clarified about his past remarks made during his major league days, “I was young then,” after he attracted attention for saying, “I am Korean. If you want to talk to me, speak Korean.” Kang Ho-dong jokingly predicted that Kim Byung-hyun would graduate last, saying, “You’re fixed until this program is over,” which sparked concern for Kim Byung-hyun’s two sons, Kim Tae-yoon and Kim Ju-seong.
Meanwhile, when the question about the 'five major duties of the nation' came up, Kim Jung-tae confidently stated, “The duty of love,” filling the studio with love. When the 4th question asked in 3rd grade Korean about the honorific expression for “Is the lady next door at home?”, Kim Jung-tae responded, “It depends on the closeness with the lady next door,” unexpectedly gaining agreement. Additionally, Yang Eun-ji answered the Spanish greeting with “Salamalacon,” which burst into laughter. Though Han Grew, who was closest to winning, failed to answer the Kenyan greeting, Kwang-gwang’s daughter, Gae-in, answered with “Jambo,” receiving applause. After a fierce competition among the parents concluded with the last dictation question, Han Grew, who scored a total of 3 points, was selected as the first winner and received the amusement park passes that her twins Da-on and Ra-on wanted. Han Grew remarked, “I will work hard to study and learn together with the children going forward.”
The 7 parents, who engaged in everything from jump rope to dictation at their children’s level, consistently shared laughter and empathy. As Kim Jung-tae said, it was filled with “love,” making the first episode precious where scores did not matter. Just like the parents returned to their elementary school days, the show marked the birth of a program that all generations could comfortably enjoy together in their living rooms.
