(Following the interview②) Actor Park Hae-joon, who performed brilliantly in When Life Gives You Tangerines, mentioned the secretive writer Im Sang-chun.

Netflix conducted an interview with Park Hae-joon, who starred in the original series When Life Gives You Tangerines (written by Im Sang-chun, directed by Kim Won-seok), at a hotel in Jangchung-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, on the morning of the 1st.

When Life Gives You Tangerines is a Netflix series that unfolds the adventurous life of the rebellious 'troublesome girl' Ae-soon, born in Jeju, and 'clumsy iron' Kwan-sik through the four seasons. Park Hae-joon played Kwan-sik's middle-aged and elderly roles, delivering a remarkable performance.

Regarding the work's popularity, Park Hae-joon said, "I often receive messages from people around me, and unlike when another movie or drama does well, they say, 'I cried so much.' The reactions have been very positive. The responses from seniors and colleagues have all been great," he smiled.

About the overwhelming popularity and acclaim, Park Hae-joon noted, "While the actors did well, the script itself was excellent. While it is not about whether people like it or not, I was just so happy to be part of this project. I found great joy in simply participating in it. It would be nice if it does well, but I already had no greed. I filled my heart just by being involved in the project. Also, the staff worked incredibly hard, stitching together each scene so meticulously, making this work much more valuable."

Such an acclaimed When Life Gives You Tangerines was born from the fingertips of writer Im Sang-chun. While she has continued to receive praise for works like 'Baekhee Has Returned,' 'Fight for My Way,' 'When the Camellia Blooms,' and When Life Gives You Tangerines, she remains a mysterious figure, attending few public events apart from being a beautiful married woman in her 40s. This trajectory sets her apart from typical star drama writers.

How does Park Hae-joon view writer Im Sang-chun? He confessed, "I met the writer during the reading. I heard that the writer doesn’t show up. She is a wonderful person. I thought about what kind of person could write such words, but she appears young externally to delve into such profound discussions. I didn’t directly ask her age, but I heard she was born in 1985. It is a unspoken rule not to inquire about age. I only know to consider her younger than me based on how she interacts with me."

Instead, he praised the strengths of the When Life Gives You Tangerines script, saying, "It is incredibly detailed in itself, and you could call it 'word taste.' When actors perform, it's simply too comfortable and relatable. The writer provided many specifics in the script, typos and all. Considering how to shoot it can be quite challenging, but there is a capable director. Director Kim Won-seok captures every word and detail written in the script. That’s why it turned out so well."
