As the controversy surrounding actor Kim Soo Hyun's past private life heats up daily, Kim Soo Hyun's starred film 'Real,' which is embroiled in controversy for supposedly forcing late singer and actress Sulli to perform nude scenes, surged to 2nd place on Netflix.
As of 1st, according to Netflix, the film 'Real' climbed to 2nd in the movie TOP10 rankings in Korea. 'Revelations,' recently released, ranks 1st, while the 3rd place goes to the also recently released foreign film 'Electric State,' a noteworthy past work.
This is the aftermath of 'Real' being caught up in the controversy regarding the private life of protagonist Kim Soo Hyun, as well as the controversy of allegedly forcing Sulli to perform nude scenes. Sulli's family issued a statement on the 28th of last month, claiming that despite the presence of a body double, Sulli was forced to shoot naked scenes, including bed scenes.
Sulli's family raised three main allegations. They stated that the bed scene between Sulli and Kim Soo Hyun was not specified in the initial script, that despite having a body double present, Sulli was forced to film, and that although it was said the body double was sick and could not be present, she was actually there.
In this regard, Sulli's older brother conducted a live broadcast on social media on the 31st, criticizing the public by saying, "I made a revelation, but there has been no response from 'Real' or Kim Soo Hyun's side." On the same day, Kim Soo Hyun held a press conference with his legal representative. However, this occasion was focused on addressing allegations about his past relationship with late actress Kim Sae Ron, rather than mentioning Sulli's nude scenes or 'Real.'
Released in 2017, 'Real' tells the story of boss Jang Tae Young (Kim Soo Hyun) facing a crisis of losing a casino siesta when a gangster appears. Kim Soo Hyun takes on multiple roles, directed by his stepbrother and Gold Medalist agency representative, Lee Ro Bae.
The film particularly garnered attention not only for featuring Sulli but also for the performances of talented actors like Lee Sang Min, Sung Dong Il, and Jo Woo Jin. Additionally, it drew attention with its glamorous guest appearances, including Suzy, Ahn So Hee, IU, Park Seo Jun, and Dasom. Furthermore, it was discussed for its high-level nude scenes at the time of its release. However, the final audience count was only about 470,000, resulting in a box office failure, and the setting of Kim Soo Hyun's multiple roles received harsh criticisms, being described as 'difficult' and a 'flop.'
