"When Life Gives You Tangerines" star Park Hae-joon expressed his thoughts on portraying a character similar to his junior actor Park Bo-gum.

Netflix conducted an interview with Park Hae-joon, who fiercely performed in the original series "When Life Gives You Tangerines" (written by Lim Sang-chun and directed by Kim Won-seok), at a hotel located in Jangchung-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, on the morning of the 1st.

"When Life Gives You Tangerines" is a Netflix series that unfolds the adventure-filled life of Aesoon, a rebellious child born in Jeju, and Kwan-sik, a carefree but sincere character, across the four seasons. Among them, Park Hae-joon played the middle-aged and elderly Kwan-sik with great dedication.

In a situation where he took on a character similar to Park Bo-gum. Park Hae-joon said, "Basically, the director wanted to match the tone with Bo-gum. While talking in a low tone, Bo-gum probably filmed without having seen my performance. I think in scenes that transition back, he wanted me to adjust accordingly. In scenes that directly lead from me to Bo-gum, I could refer to them promptly."

Park Hae-joon, who had to inherit the visual appeal of Park Bo-gum, known as the epitome of handsome young actors. Did it weigh heavily on him, who was called the "Han Yang University’s Jang Dong-gun"? Park Hae-joon said, "Since the drama is good and it connects well, it seems to have been linked nicely. But honestly, I feel a bit sorry for Park Bo-gum. It feels strange to say, 'Your future will be like this.' I’ve lived life freely. Bo-gum lives stylishly after all. He’s also smart," he joked.

Still, he said, "That said, I didn’t feel pressure. To be honest, at first, while watching Bo-gum in 'When Life Gives You Tangerines,' I was really thankful. I felt he made my youth look so cool. I thought I should thank him when I meet him. Bo-gum did so well. So when I came out and reminded people of young Bo-gum, I felt very grateful. If I had played young Kwan-sik in his childhood, I don’t think it would have turned out like that. Bo-gum created a Kwan-sik who was purely devoted and very honest, and I benefited from that," he said.
