The birth story of 'divorce insurance' has been depicted.
The new tvN drama 'divorce insurance', which premiered on the 31st, revealed the behind-the-scenes story of how divorce insurance came to be.
In that broadcast, the 'divorce insurance task force' team boldly promoted 'divorce insurance' at a wedding fair filled with engaged couples. Noh Gi-joon (played by Lee Dong-wook) said, "Everyone says to accept your fate and love. But they should tell you to screw it. How easy is that? If an unexpected divorce comes into your life, we're here to introduce a new product from Plus Insurance that will help you accept it."
He continued, "To be frank, are you 100 percent sure you can understand this? When you first start out, everyone dreams of a rosy future. But alimony, you can become completely broke in an instant. Everything can be ruined in one blow. Divorce is harder and more complicated than marriage. It’s more frustrating than any sickness or accident, and I will guarantee you based on your situation." However, he was eventually chased away by a barrage of stuffed dolls from the engaged couples.
The birth of divorce insurance dates back three months. At that time, Noh Gi-joon was burdened with developing a novel insurance product at home. Inspired by 'divorce' in his dreams, he proposed to Na Dae-bok (played by Kim Won-hae), "Let’s create divorce insurance." He emphasized, "Divorce is indeed the risk of this age," to which Head of Team Na responded, "But can you calculate the risk of divorce?" Gi-joon confidently replied, "Look at life insurance. They covered death. Divorce can also be covered by insurance."
On the anticipated meeting day, Gi-joon proposed 'divorce insurance', but encountered obstacles from risk surveyor An Seon-man (played by Lee Kwang-soo). After many twists and turns, he got the approval, but after the meeting, Gi-joon appealed to Seon-man, saying, "Think about it. You did it once, I even did it three times. It’s like betting on a 200 percent probability for divorce insurance." Seon-man asked, "Why did you do it three times?" and Gi-joon replied, "I can’t handle one-night stands. I will definitely create divorce insurance," which drew attention.
Later, when he was alone with Seon-man, Gi-joon questioned, "You should disclose your reason for divorce. You need to hear this to decide whether to join the project. If you are hiding it from me, a classmate from elementary school, how can people trust you?" Gi-joon explained, "First, our views on marriage were different. Second, our worldviews were different. Third, our perspectives on life were different." Seon-man, hearing this, inquired, "Are you kidding? How was your view on marriage different? Did you suggest an open marriage?" to which Gi-joon affirmed, making everyone laugh.
Gi-joon asked Jeon-man, "I'm just asking as a friend. What is your reason for divorce? We are best friends after all," and Jeon-man replied, "My wife was obsessed with interior design. One day, she said I was detrimental to the decor of the house. I’m the only one who moved out from that house," sharing a bitter reason for his divorce.
Meanwhile, a powerful first encounter between Gi-joon and Han Deul (played by Lee Joo-bin) was depicted. A month after her divorce, Han started moving a mattress that her ex-husband had left in their newlywed home. During this process, Gi-joon, returning home after a drinking session with Jeon-man, bumped into Han. She collapsed onto the mattress while holding Gi-joon's finger, and he also fell on top of her. Unexpectedly, a blanket fell from the sky, casting suspicion of lewdness in a public place.
Ultimately, the two ended up at the police station. While Gi-joon was pleading his innocence, he remembered their recent encounter at a mart when Han was crying in front of products due to the pain of divorce. Feeling sympathy, Gi-joon said, "I apologize. I’m sorry as a fellow resident of the APT. I was just standing on my way. Let’s reconcile," as they left the police station. Gi-joon added, "The probability of us meeting again is lower than the probability of an albino raccoon being born. Let's go our separate ways."
However, the next day, due to Gi-joon's initiative, he encountered Han while applying for the divorce insurance task force position. It turned out Han was a former underwriter. Reviewing her documents, Gi-joon remarked, "You divorced most recently. So that’s why you were trying to dispose of the mattress," which Han acknowledged. She asked, "What do you think is the probability of success for divorce insurance?" and continued, "To achieve a 1 in 500,000 chance, you need capable underwriters like me," trying to appeal to Gi-joon and gaining his interest.
Thus, the divorce insurance task force was formed with the addition of 'single-life advocate' Jo Ah-young (played by Choo So-jung). Meanwhile, special consultant Kwon Na-rae (played by Lee Da-hee) joined the team. When Gi-joon met Na-rae, he showed an unusual reaction, and Na-rae introduced herself, saying, "I am Noh Gi-joon's ex-wife," to which Gi-joon clarified, "No, she’s not just my ex-wife; she's my ex-ex-wife," drawing attention.
