Actor Kim Soo-hyun fully denied the allegations of relationships with the late Kim Sae-ron, who was a minor, as well as the allegations of debt pressure, while Gaseyeon announced it would release a new video in response.
On the 31st, Kim Soo-hyun held a press conference at the Stanford Hotel in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, and directly addressed several allegations.
He stated, "The deceased and I dated for about a year, four years before 'The Queen of Tears' aired, five years ago," adding, "At that time, I denied the fact of the relationship. I believe it's natural for people to criticize my choice."
He continued, "I did not date the deceased during her minor years. Additionally, it is not true that she made a tragic choice due to my rejection or that my agency pressured her regarding her debt. Aside from the fact that both of us are actors, we were just ordinary lovers like everyone else, who met with good feelings for each other and eventually parted ways as time passed."
He also emphasized, "I will accept any criticism regarding my choices. However, that does not mean that everything that is not true becomes fact. What I did not do is what I did not do. I want to clarify this for everyone who still believes in me; I will definitely prove it."
Kim Soo-hyun's legal representative stated, "In order to clarify the facts, we decided to file criminal complaints and civil lawsuits against relevant parties," noting that they submitted a claim for damages amounting to 12 billion won against the late Kim Sae-ron's family, her aunt, and the operators of Gaseyeon to the Seoul Central District Court.
In related news, the Gaseyeon side stated through the comments on their YouTube channel, "We will not apologize to Kim Sae-ron and her family until the end," and added, "We will release a video from 2018 at Kim Sae-ron's house, where she was a high school student, this evening."
Meanwhile, Kim Sae-ron's family earlier claimed on the YouTube channel 'Garosero Research Institute' on the 10th that Kim Soo-hyun had been in a relationship with Kim Sae-ron since her third year of middle school, when she was a minor, for over six years. They stated that during Kim Sae-ron's lifetime, her previous agency, Gold Medallist, which was founded by Kim Soo-hyun, sent a certified letter demanding 700 million won in damages to her, putting pressure on her, and that Kim Soo-hyun remained indifferent to this despite being her former boyfriend.
However, Kim Soo-hyun's agency, Gold Medallist, countered that while it was true Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron dated, it was not during her minor years but from the summer of 2019 until the fall of 2020. They stated that the certified letter regarding Kim Sae-ron was merely a legal procedure to address losses regarding her drunk driving incident, and that they never demanded actual payment or pressure.
Despite Kim Soo-hyun's continued denials, the family of the late Kim Sae-ron held a press conference on the 27th in Seocho-gu, revealing evidence that Kim Soo-hyun had dated the deceased since her minor years, and repeated their demand for an apology. Four days later, Kim Soo-hyun held a press conference and denied all allegations.
