The writers Kim Eun-hee of 'Sign', 'Signal', and 'Kingdom', and Kim Eun-sook of 'Lovers in Paris', 'Mr. Sunshine', and 'The Glory' are undoubtedly among the best writers of our time, leading Korean drama. The two will meet with Son Suk-hee (currently a visiting professor at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto) on April 1 at 9 p.m. on MBC's 'Questions by Son Suk-hee'. Given that it is rare for them to appear in broadcast interviews and that this is the first time both will appear together, there are even claims in the broadcasting industry that it seems like 'April Fool's fake news.'
Writer Kim Eun-hee is at the final stages of completing the script for the sequel to her hit work 'Signal', titled 'Second Signal.' Recently, Kim Eun-sook shook the global market with her latest work 'The Glory', while her next project 'Everything Will Come True' is in post-production. The two have reached the top in their respective genres, drama and romantic comedy, and are close friends, even declaring each other as their only friends.
If drama is the art of the writer, ultimately remaining in the form of dialogue, then Kim Eun-hee and Kim Eun-sook can be called quintessential writers. Quotes such as 'Is it the same there? It's been 20 years, so... something must have changed, right?' (Kim Eun-hee, 'Signal') and 'You are here' (Kim Eun-sook, 'Lovers in Paris') have remained iconic phrases representing their respective genres of investigative drama and romantic comedy. The process through which these lines came to be will also be introduced.
The two also shared their struggles as drama writers candidly on the program and expressed their honest impressions of the social situation in Korea following the imposition of martial law. Kim Eun-sook mentioned that if she had participated in the recording after the Constitutional Court's decision, she could have approached it with a lighter heart. When Son Suk-hee, the host, noted that 'the current social situation will someday appear in films or dramas' and expressed his expectation for the roles of the two writers, both writers agreed considerably.
The production team of 'Questions' said, 'Although the Constitutional Court's decision has yet to be announced, making it difficult for citizens to return to their daily lives, we hope that in the spirit of this season’s subtitle, 'Life goes on', viewers can watch the program with a sense of comfort, even if just for a while.'
Meanwhile, 'Questions by Son Suk-hee' plans to conduct a live broadcast on April 8 (Tuesday), regardless of the Constitutional Court's decision regarding impeachment. The production team stated, 'We hope the decision will be made by then, but we are planning another live broadcast because there may be a need to analyze the situation calmly, even before the decision.'
Viewers can catch the 'Questions' featuring drama writers Kim Eun-hee and Kim Eun-sook on April 1 at 9 p.m. on MBC.
