Lee Hae-Young had killed Park Hyung-Sik in the past on 'Buried Hearts.' It was a shocking ending that felt like the heart had stopped.
According to Nielsen Korea, the viewership ratings for the 11th episode of the SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Buried Hearts' (written by Lee Myung-Hee, directed by Jin Chang-Gyu) aired on March 28 were 11.7% nationwide and 11.9% in the metropolitan area, securing the top spot in the same time slot among all channels and weekly dramas. The momentary peak rating skyrocketed to 12.9%, and the 2049 rating also reached 3.1%, ranking first. 'Buried Hearts' is not only dominating the ratings but also excelling in popularity, outpacing competing works.
In this broadcast, Seo Dong-Joo (played by Park Hyung-Sik) faced a birth secret and made a significant decision for his beloved Yeo Eun-Nam (played by Hong Hwa-Yeon). However, that decision became meaningless as another truth from the past was revealed, shocking not only Seo Dong-Joo but also the viewers in front of the TV.
Earlier, Seo Dong-Joo learned of a birth secret that he and Yeo Eun-Nam might be half-siblings. Seeing Yeo Eun-Nam, who divorced to come back to him without knowing anything, made Seo Dong-Joo confused. However, he decided to keep the truth hidden for her sake.
However, Seo Dong-Joo wanted to know the truth. Was it truly Heo Il-Do (played by Lee Hae-Young) who killed Yeosun-Ho (played by Joo Sang-Wook), who might be his biological father, as Yeo Eun-Nam suspected?
Meanwhile, Chairman Cha Gang-Cheon (played by Woo Hyun) declared his marriage to Ji Young-Soo (played by Do Ji-Won) to establish his illegitimate son Ji Seon-Woo (played by Cha Woo-Min) as the successor of Daesan Group, shaking the power dynamics of Daesan Group. His eldest daughter Cha Deok-Hee (played by Kim Jung-Nan) became extremely angry, while his son-in-law Heo Il-Do and younger daughter Cha Guk-Hee (played by Hong Su-Hyun), who were caught up by Seo Dong-Joo, sided with Cha Gang-Cheon. Ji Young-Soo and Ji Seon-Woo also revealed their desires regarding Daesan Group.
In the meantime, Seo Dong-Joo once again visited Yeom Jang-Seon (played by Heo Jun-Ho) and heightened the pressure. Yeom Jang-Seon warned Seo Dong-Joo, saying, "You are nothing but a goldfish that sticks out its mouth eagerly for food. Even if you try hard to climb up, you will be the first to receive food as the top goldfish." Seo Dong-Joo retorted, "The one who is giving food now is Seo Dong-Joo. The top goldfish receiving food is Yeom Jang-Seon," creating a tense standoff.
It was a scene where the desires of the two men clashed intensely. After Seo Dong-Joo left, Yeom Jang-Seon remarked, "That guy is better than his father. It's almost a shame to kill him," hinting that he seemed to know something. Above all, Yeom Jang-Seon's malevolence exploded, creating a chilling moment for the viewers.
Afterward, Seo Dong-Joo, who was plagued by recurring nightmares of the car accident, attempted hypnosis again. And the shocking truth of that day was revealed. One night, when young Seong-Hyun was in a car driven by Yeosun-Ho, a large vehicle approached from behind and crashed into the car. Heo Il-Do, who was following in another car, received a DNA test result from an administrator indicating that "Yeosun-Ho and Choo Seong-Hyun are biological relatives."
After a car accident occurred, young Seong-Hyun, who was awake, cried out to Heo Il-Do for help. Heo Il-Do clearly saw Seong-Hyun but did not save him and returned to his own car. Then, with a tissue in his mouth, he pushed the car carrying Yeosun-Ho and young Seong-Hyun off the guardrail. The car Heo Il-Do was in also fell off the cliff. The episode of 'Buried Hearts' ended with Seo Dong-Joo screaming, "The man from nowhere killed us."
After hearing Yeom Jang-Seon's words, Heo Il-Do shot at Seo Dong-Joo. He had driven Seo Dong-Joo to death in the past as well. Simultaneously, as Yeo Eun-Nam suspected, Heo Il-Do also killed Yeosun-Ho, who might be Yeo Eun-Nam's biological father and Seo Dong-Joo's biological father. Now, Seo Dong-Joo's desire for revenge is bound to burn even stronger. The performances of Park Hyung-Sik, Heo Jun-Ho, and Lee Hae-Young were so intense that they elicited a chilling response from the viewers.
