A wildfire that began in Uiseong, North Gyeongsang Province, has spread to Andong, passing through Cheongsong Juwangsan National Park, Yeongyang, and Yeongdeok.

According to the forest authorities, the large wildfire that occurred on the 22nd in Uiseong has been spreading past Andong.

In particular, the millennium-old Gounsa Temple in Uiseong has burned down, and the famous training building at Gounsa Temple, known for its beautiful scenery, has also been destroyed by fire. However, it is known that treasures such as the Stone-Seated Buddha Statue (Treasure No. 246) that Gounsa Temple was holding were moved to another location before the fire hit, thus avoiding loss.

Moreover, Andong Manhyujeong, known as the filming location for the drama "Mr. Sunshine," could not escape the flames and was completely burned down. Andong City had deployed firefighting equipment around Manhyujeong to spray water on the building and prepare for the fire, but ultimately could not prevent it.

Manhyujeong was built by Kim Gyehaeng, a civil minister from the Joseon Dynasty, to spend his later years, and gained popularity as a filming location after appearing in the 2018 drama "Mr. Sunshine."

In addition, Lee Byung-hun's famous line to Kim Tae-ri in the drama, "Let's do it. Love. Together with me," has made the location a popular spot for many tourists.

Meanwhile, the widespread wildfire has also led to the suspension of highways, national roads, and now railways. Korail has halted operations in the section between Andong and Gyeongju on the Jungang Line on the afternoon of the 22nd to prevent accidents related to the wildfire. After resuming operations, the service in the Yeongju to Gyeongju section was halted again on the afternoon of the 25th.

As damage from the wildfire continues, acts of kindness are being expressed in the entertainment industry as well. Various entertainers, including singer Yim Siwan, Lee Seung-yoon, Yoo Jae-suk, Winner's Kim Jin-woo, So Yu-jin, Chun Woo-hee, Shim Jin-hwa, Yoo Byeong-jae, and Lee Hye-young have stepped up to donate.
