'Songdo's romantic man' Song Il-gook expressed his unwavering affection for his judge wife and their triplets.
On the afternoon of the 9th, Song Il-gook appeared as a guest on TV Chosun's 'Heo Young-man's Baekban Gihang.' He and Heo Young-man wandered around Songdo, Incheon, tasting dishes such as anchovy salad, grilled anchovies, pork belly wraps, soup, and fresh monkfish.
Having enjoyed all the food deliciously, Song Il-gook noted, “My wife's sense of taste is more developed than mine. I would say being a judge is just my side job. Going to France for training is also appealing since it’s a country of gastronomy,” highlighting his wife's exceptional gourmet skills.
He continued, “My wife has been studying French with the determination to go to France. Since she was young, my wife has loved cartoons, which is why her Japanese is at a native level. English is a given, and she even writes her master's thesis in German,” proudly sharing that she speaks Korean, German, Japanese, French, and English.
Song Il-gook married Judge Jeong Seung-yeon in March 2008 and welcomed the triplets, Daehan, Min-guk, and Man-se, on March 16, 2012. In 2014, they gained explosive popularity by appearing on KBS 2TV's 'The Return of Superman' grants with the triplets.
Regarding his children, Song Il-gook said, “They each eat a large pizza per person. They can't eat Hanwoo beef. One day, we accidentally went to a Hanwoo bulgogi restaurant. Daehan asked what kind of meat it was, saying it wasn't what we usually ate,” revealing the triplets' enormous appetites.
He especially revealed, “Among the three, Man-se is completely different. Daehan and Min-guk resemble their mother, but Man-se is just like me. When told to study, he can't focus and gets distracted (laughs). It's Daehan, Min-guk, and Man-se,” bringing smiles.
He met his wife through a blind date arranged by a celebrity reporter. Song Il-gook recalled, “She rejected me twice. At that time, 'Jumong' was hitting sky-high ratings, and she rejected me? I didn't envy BTS at that time! It was stubbornness that brought me here. If I didn’t like her, I planned to end it right away since we met at 4 p.m. But I really liked her a lot.”
He further explained, “My father-in-law worked his way up to an executive position in a large company. He lived with his mother-in-law, and family meetings would occur on payday. When he would give his mother-in-law her salary, they would count it one by one to distribute to my wife, which was used as family spending money. My father’s earnings would be redistributed through my grandmother and mother, and my wife came to understand this. That's when my respect for those figures also changed. I love my father-in-law and mother-in-law,” drawing a heart gesture above his head.
