In "Solo, So," Hwang Jung-eum expressed regret to her children about her divorce and mentioned her ex-husband Lee Young-don.
In the episode broadcast on the 4th on SBS Plus and E Channel's entertainment program "Solo, So," Hwang Jung-eum mentioned her ex-husband.
In "Solo, So," discussing her decision to become a solo, she said, "It's because I wasn't happy," adding, "After getting married, I felt really good, but it seemed like I was becoming depressed and changing for the worse. It was really hard, and I don't want my children to feel that energy. They are too precious to me." She also said, "I had no choice but to choose divorce, but I cannot express how sorry I am to my children," showing the side of Hwang Jung-eum as a mother, rather than an actress.
Afterward, Hwang Jung-eum greeted the day with her spirited first son Wang-sik and her adorable second son Kang-sik, gazing at her sons with loving eyes. Hwang Jung-eum said, "You are my treasure number one," and expressed her affection, saying, "I feel you came to this world to make me happy."
She then scheduled her son's activities herself. Particularly, the eldest showed excellent student performance. Hwang Jung-eum said, "He studies well and plays games well," adding, "He goes to math and English academies every day." As she and her children headed to school, Hwang Jung-eum stated, "I try to get them to school whenever I have time, it's the only moment I communicate with my children," and added, "They are growing up quickly; I want to cherish the moments with them, the time I spend with my children is happiness."
At that moment, a stranger visited their home. It turned out to be their physical education teacher, filling the void left by their father because managing the two sons physically was difficult. Hwang Jung-eum remarked, "It would be the best if their dad could play with them, but that's not possible right now, the physical education teacher takes care of that." When asked if the children miss their father, she said, "Sometimes when they say they miss their dad, I tell them, 'Call him and see him,'" adding, "Now they recognize him as a dad they can see anytime they want," which drew attention.
That night, Hwang Jung-eum cared for her children attentively. She said, "The children are so lovely, even when it's hard, they are beautiful," stating, "The best thing I have ever done in my life is giving birth to my two sons."
She continued, "Life seems to have good days, painful days, and happy days," and added, "Difficult things make me stronger, and then days come when I can smile like this. As a solo, I am enough as I am; I don't need to struggle." In particular, she smiled, saying, "Because I have my two sons, I am the happiest person in the world." While watching herself on monitor, Hwang Jung-eum appeared to be choked up, her eyes brimming with tears, moving those who watched her.
Meanwhile, Hwang Jung-eum married Lee Young-don, a businessman and former professional golfer, in 2016 and has two sons with him. After experiencing a crisis in their marriage and subsequently reconciling, she filed for divorce again in February of last year.
Additionally, in July of last year, she acknowledged her relationship with younger basketball player Kim Jong-kyu, but shared the news of their breakup just two weeks later, which caused disappointment.
