On May 31, 2014, a report was received about a suspicious suitcase on the roadside of a Namdong Industrial Complex in Incheon. When the zipper of the foul-smelling suitcase was opened, what was discovered inside was, surprisingly, the terribly mutilated upper body of a man. The corpse was intricately cut as if it had been chopped with a chainsaw and was decaying. Upon identification, the victim was confirmed to be 51-year-old Kim Hyun-sang (pseudonym), a resident of Incheon. He had gone missing five days earlier after leaving home to go for a job interview. What could have happened to him in the meantime?
The two people's destination was a love motel?!
According to police investigations, the last person the victim met was a 35-year-old woman named Park Hyun-a (pseudonym). The place the two, who met through a dating app, headed to that day was a love motel, and CCTV footage revealed that only Park was seen leaving the motel again, while the victim’s appearance was not captured afterward. Contextually, the prime suspect was Park, who had been at the motel with the victim. The police caught her calmly using the victim's card to purchase millions of won worth of jewelry, as well as buying tools like a chainsaw and a cart. When Park was apprehended, the victim’s blood and the tools used in the crime came pouring out of her vehicle.
Ahn Hyun-mo expressed shock, saying, "How could someone so brutally murder another after purchasing a chainsaw when there was no underlying grudge?" Lee Ji-hye remarked, "It’s horrific to imagine what might have happened if Park hadn't been caught quickly."
Meanwhile, the broadcast will feature Im Sang-do, a former investigator from the Namdong Police Station in Incheon, who was in charge of the investigation at the time, sharing the details of the case, as well as psychiatrist Cha Seung-min analyzing the psyche of the perpetrator, Park Hyun-a (pseudonym), who carried out the bizarre and grotesque murder.
The incident where a man met through a dating app was brutally murdered with a chainsaw, titled <"Honey, I can't go today" - Paju chainsaw murder case>, can be seen on March 4 (Tue) at 9:50 p.m. on KBS2
