Singer Sung Si-kyung and 'Solitary Gourmet' Yutaka Matsushige met at 'Crazy Restaurant.'
On the 27th, the new Netflix variety show 'Crazy Restaurant: Gourmet Friend's Restaurant (abbreviated as Crazy Restaurant)' premiered, showcasing the meeting between gourmet representatives Sung Si-kyung from Korea and Yutaka Matsushige from Japan.
'Crazy Restaurant' is a program where Sung Si-kyung, the 'gourmet of Korea' and emperor of ballads with 2.07 million YouTube subscribers, and Yutaka Matsushige, 'Japan's gourmet,' who raised the solo dining craze through the drama 'Solitary Gourmet,' become meal friends and exchange their true favorite restaurants.
In the past, Sung Si-kyung, a true fan of the drama, even made special appearances in 'Solitary Gourmet.' He has continuously mentioned his meeting with Yutaka Matsushige on his YouTube channel, showing his enthusiasm. 'Crazy Restaurant' was made possible by Sung Si-kyung's love call, and as their meeting was revealed, fans expressed high expectations just from that.
In the future, the two will travel between Korea and Japan to introduce their hidden favorite restaurants. First, Yutaka Matsushige introduced restaurants in Tokyo. This included not only places beloved in 'Solitary Gourmet' but also the most prestigious dessert restaurant in Japan and secret spots that had never been revealed before, leaving Sung Si-kyung in awe.
Additionally, 'Crazy Restaurant' will showcase Yutaka Matsushige's first fixed variety show appearance, revealing the charm of the human Yutaka Matsushige, quite different from his portrayal in 'Solitary Gourmet.'
In the first episode, after meeting again in Tokyo since their previous encounter in 'Solitary Gourmet,' the two showcased delightful chemistry despite the long-awaited meeting, raising expectations. Particularly, Sung Si-kyung, who has consistently claimed to be a passionate fan of 'Solitary Gourmet,' referred to himself as 'Sung-deok (successful fan),' bringing laughter to Yutaka Matsushige.
Then, upon arriving at a favorite restaurant that Yutaka Matsushige has frequented for 13 years, Sung Si-kyung could hardly hide his excitement. The first restaurant chosen by Yutaka Matsushige had a special menu only available to regulars, and after tasting it, Sung Si-kyung exclaimed, 'It’s a flavor that all Koreans will love!' showcasing his admiration. Seeing Sung Si-kyung satisfied with his favorite restaurant, Yutaka Matsushige repeatedly exclaimed, 'I’m crazy!' out of joy.
In the second episode, they visited a hidden dessert restaurant in Kamakura, known as the holy land of 'Slam Dunk,' which is where you can taste the most expensive cheesecake in Japan. It was a special place where one could enjoy sweet desserts alongside a tranquil landscape. Initially shocked by the price of the cheesecake, Sung Si-kyung expressed satisfaction after taking a bite, stating it was a flavor that made sense. He also expressed a longing, suggesting it would be a nice place to visit with a partner.
As they exchanged stories about the food cultures of Korea and Japan, the two quickly grew close, exchanging phone numbers and even giving each other nicknames, surprising everyone. 'Crazy Restaurant' is released every Thursday at 5 p.m.
