In 'Undercover High School,' 'next-generation horror queen' Jang Se-rim appeared as a tragic high school student, effectively creating a sense of horror.

In the MBC Friday-Saturday drama 'Undercover High School' (planned by Namgoong Seong-woo, written by Lim Young-bin, directed by Choi Jeong-in), which aired on the 22nd, the protagonist Jeong Hae-sung (portrayed by Seo Kang-joon) heard the first story of the 'four great horrors of Byeongmun High School' while investigating the basement of the old building. According to this story, in the dance studio located in the basement, a ballet student (played by Jang Se-rim) suffered from bullying by her classmates and, one day while trying to escape, got involved in a car accident.

Eventually, the student, who had to have both legs amputated, fell into despair and hanged herself in the basement. Afterward, the classmates who had bullied her discovered her body and buried it somewhere beneath the old building's floor. As time passed, the student eventually became a ghost, appearing and crawling around the floor when it became the time she died. Jang Se-rim portrayed the protagonist of this ghost story realistically, adding a sense of realism to the narrative.

Meanwhile, Jeong Hae-sung broke into the old building in the middle of the night, thinking there might be gold bullion hidden in the basement. In the underground dance studio, he heard music and a thumping sound, resembling the horror stories. He then encountered a stranger who was hammering the floor and chased after him. Unfortunately, he lost the stranger, but Jeong Hae-sung arrived at a room filled with clues about the gold bullion. At the same time, the skeletal remains of the student from the ghost story were discovered, shocking everyone.

Actress Jang Se-rim, affiliated with T&I Cultures, starred in 'Mongjung,' one of the short films supported by the horror story production project at the 2023 Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN), showcasing her standout 'natural female lead' presence in horror films and engaging with the audience. With her clear and transparent charm, Jang Se-rim has presented herself as a contender for 'next-generation horror queen,' and in this 'Undercover High School,' she solidified her presence by portraying both the tragic student and the ghost from the horror story.

The MBC Friday-Saturday drama 'Undercover High School' airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 p.m. on MBC.
