JYP Entertainment's next-generation boy group KickFlip has made a significant impact as a 'K-pop super rookie' by winning two awards at a music awards ceremony just 33 days after their debut.
KickFlip won the 'D Awards Discovery - Discovery of the Year' and 'D Awards Remark' in the institutional sector at the 1st D Awards held on the 22nd at 6 p.m. at Korea University's Hwajeong Gymnasium in Seoul. This achievement proves the group's notable activities as a 'K-pop super rookie' just about a month after debuting with their first mini album 'Flip it, Kick it!' on Jan. 20, with their attendance at their first awards ceremony.
Members said, "We have dreamed of stepping on the awards ceremony stage while preparing for our debut, and we are thrilled to have achieved it like this. It's truly an honor to receive such a wonderful award. We will work harder and showcase an energetic performance. We sincerely thank everyone who supports KickFlip."
In particular, KickFlip hosted an opening performance themed 'tape-cutting ceremony' to announce and celebrate their first awards ceremony participation, heating up the festive atmosphere. Members Kyuhun, Amaroo, Donghwa, Joowang, Minje, Kiju, and Donghyun broke the solemn atmosphere of the 'tape-cutting ceremony' with their free-spirited energy. Starting with an intro rearranged in a funky manner for their debut album track 'WARRIORS', they delivered a rich performance featuring the pre-released song 'Yeah, okay' and the title track 'Mama Said (What are you going to be?)', showcasing their status as 'next-generation stage masters'. Additionally, Minje was nominated for the 'K-pop King Award' in the special corner 'D-tail Awards' and drew cheers from the audience with his photogenic poses.
Having kicked off their first awards ceremony on the right foot and achieved meaningful results, they are expected to drive popularity with their active activities. Following their appearances on Mnet's 'M Countdown' on the 20th, KBS 2TV's 'Music Bank' on the 21st, and MBC's 'Show! Music Core' on the 22nd, they will continue their music broadcast activities for the follow-up song 'Knock Knock' on SBS's 'Inkigayo' on the 23rd. 'Knock Knock', which expresses the heart-pounding feeling in front of someone they like over a catchy melody, is captivating viewers with its groovy choreography.
KickFlip's mini album 'Flip it, Kick it!' recorded 320,000 copies based on Circle Chart shipments, achieving first place on the weekly album chart and the weekly retail album chart (Jan. 19, 2025 - Jan. 25, 2025). According to Hanteo Chart, they also secured first place on the weekly album chart (Jan. 20, 2025 - Jan. 26, 2025) and achieved 276,881 in first-week sales, earning an official first-week certification.
