Kim Dae-ho, a former MBC announcer who became a free agent after signing a contract with a new agency, returns to his roots with guest appearances on radio.
Former announcer Kim Dae-ho left MBC on 4th. In the episode aired on the 31st of last month of MBC's 'I Live Alone', he revealed his decision to resign, saying, "Rather than quitting the company, I think about how to live a different life. I felt like I had to repay what I had received, but after going through the 'Paris Olympics', I realized that I could do various things in the company." It had only been 4 days since he made this decision.
Kim Dae-ho, who joined MBC through the special feature 'New Employee' for the 50th anniversary of MBC in 2011, gained attention through the MBC announcer YouTube channel 'News Annahani'. Despite being an announcer, his down-to-earth and quirky charm, akin to Kian84, captivated viewers, and he blossomed after joining 'I Live Alone'. Starting with his participation in 'I Live Alone', Kim Dae-ho received several awards including the 2023 MBC Entertainment Awards Male Rookie Award, the 2023 Korean Announcer Awards TV Entertainment Sector Hosting Award, the 51st Korean Broadcasting Awards Announcer Award, the 32nd Republic of Korea Cultural Entertainment Awards Entertainment Star Award, the 2025 MBC Entertainment Awards Male Excellence Award in the Show/Variety Category, and the Entertainer of the Year Award.
Having decided to leave behind the glory at MBC, Kim Dae-ho wrote in his resignation letter, "I am going out to make money" and "This is the point where change comes to my life," thus becoming a free agent. Though he left MBC, the three shows he was involved in, 'Pook Shimyeon Dahyangiya', 'Guaeju! Holmes', and 'I Live Alone', remained tight-lipped about his departure. Kim Dae-ho, who had 'insurance' in the form of these three programs, confirmed his participation in MBC Every1's new entertainment show 'Great Guide 2', marking the start of his activities as a freelancer.
He has also found a new agency. On the 21st, Onehundred said they would support Kim Dae-ho to fully showcase his talents while announcing the news of his exclusive contract. Onehundred is affiliated with the group The Boyz and is the parent company of Big Planet Made Entertainment, which includes artists such as Taemin, Lee Moo-jin, VIVIZ (Eunha, SinB, Umji), Bio, Ha Sung-woon, Ren, performance director Kasper, Kany, singer-actor Lee Seung-gi, entertainer Lee Soo-geun, and Bad Villain, as well as INB100, which includes EXO's Baekhyun, Xiumin, and Chen.
Along with this, Kim Dae-ho returns to his roots. According to OSEN's coverage on the 21st, Kim Dae-ho will appear on MBC FM4U's 'Two o'clock Date with Ahn Young-mi' airing on the 25th. The broadcast that day is expected to be conducted as a visual radio, and Kim Dae-ho will visit his roots not as an 'announcer' but as a 'broadcaster', just 21 days after his resignation.
In particular, there has been much talk about Kim Dae-ho's declaration of being a free agent on 'Two o'clock Date'. Guest Hong Seok-cheon noted, "I hate traitors. People like this tend to have a bad end. They need to starve to realize and think about crawling back again." It remains to be seen if Kim Dae-ho heard Hong Seok-cheon's words and what his feelings are about visiting his roots as a broadcaster.
Meanwhile, Kim Dae-ho is currently appearing in MBC's 'Pook Shimyeon Dahyangiya', 'Guaeju! Holmes', and 'I Live Alone'. MBC Every1's 'Great Guide 2' is expected to air in the first half of this year.
