The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that it will hold a special seminar on art policy to promote the acceptance of art as payment for taxes at the Art Korea Lab Agora on the 3rd in collaboration with the Korea Visual Arts Copyright Association.
The art acceptance system allows individuals to pay inheritance tax with art instead of cash.
The seminar will discuss the topic "A System That Preserves the Value of Creation: Ways to Promote the Acceptance and Donation of Art" and will review the current status of the art acceptance system and related issues since its implementation in 2023.
First, Professor Choi Byeong-sik of Kyung Hee University will present major issues regarding the inheritance and donation of art, followed by Professor Hwang Seung-heum of Kookmin University who will introduce a management system for "national art" as an institutional approach to expanding the acceptance and donation of art.
Afterward, Kim Seong-kyu, vice chairman of Hanmi Accounting Corporation, Kim Yoon-seob, director of the IF Art Management Institute, Kim Bora, director of the Seongbuk-gu Art Museum, attorney Hwang Won-jeong, and Park Woo-hong, representative of Dongsan Fireworks Gallery, will discuss measures to promote the acceptance of art as payment with the attendees.
