The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 26th that it has checked the progress of the 'Broadcast Production Site Safety Support Project' in cooperation with the Korea Drama Production Association for the first half of the year.
The Ministry and the Association have supported emergency responders and rescue vehicles at filming locations where there is a risk of accidents, such as explosion and fire scenes, since 2021, and have dispatched safety managers to large-scale filming sets to conduct safety inspections and training.
From this year, they will also support vehicle guidance equipment and traffic controllers to secure safety when controlling roads during vehicle and chase scene filming.
As of the end of June, the status of the project is summarized as ▲ 133 cases of road control safety support ▲ 184 cases of emergency responders and emergency rescue vehicle support ▲ 30 cases of safety managers and on-site safety inspection support. Basic safety training, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation and fire response, has been conducted.
In the past, there were many cases of filming without emergency response personnel to save production costs. However, through the support project, emergency responders and rescue vehicles are now stationed at filming locations.
In the second half of the year, they plan to distribute 'Broadcast Production Safety Guidelines' that contain safety and health management methods for each stage of the broadcast production and necessary safety measures at filming sites. To strengthen emergency response capabilities, they will also distribute 200 sets of 'emergency medical equipment' on-site.
A Ministry official noted, 'This project will allow production companies to reduce costs so that the production team can focus on creating in a safe environment,' and added, 'The Ministry will continue to collect industry opinions to provide support that can be felt on-site.'
