The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 24th that it will hold a 'First Half Performance Safety Management System Briefing' in Seoul and Daejeon for safety personnel in local governments and the Korea Testing Laboratory (KTL).

The briefing will educate participants on the performance safety management system and the revised 'Performance Act,' and explain the responsibilities for establishing disaster response plans that performance venue operators must report to local governments, as well as strategies for response. It will also provide guidance on the mandatory installation of fire barriers in performance venues and procedures for reporting and addressing safety incidents.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism intends to raise awareness about preventing safety incidents by focusing on recent examples of such incidents and emphasizing the need for on-site supervision and control to prevent their recurrence.

Through this, the ministry plans to educate on the detailed methods for conducting safety training for performers that local government personnel have been curious about, as well as managing audience safety during performances outside of venues.

In particular, since summer is a time when the frequency of performances held outdoors, such as various regional events and festivals, increases, the briefing will also provide guidance on various inspection items to prevent crowd accidents and step-by-step response methods during heat waves.

There will also be a platform for sharing suggestions for institutional improvements in the field of performance safety, sharing best practices for safety management by personnel, and discussing safety support measures, forming a consensus among central ministries, local governments, and on-site personnel.

A policy official of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism noted, 'This briefing will improve the safety awareness of local government personnel and strengthen proactive accident prevention activities' and said, 'We plan to solidify a cooperative system for performance safety management with local governments and the private sector, including the Performance Safety Support Center.'
