The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is publicly recruiting nominations for webtoons that have achieved excellent results in the webtoon industry to award.
On June 16, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that it, along with the Korea Creative Content Agency, will award the main prize by publicly recruiting nominations for the '2nd World Webtoon Awards' from June 16 to July 15.
The 'World Webtoon Awards' was established to inspire pride among those in the webtoon industry and to enhance its status. In the first award ceremony held in 2024, a total of 13 works received main prizes and special awards, including the grand prize winner 'Solo Leveling.'
This call for entries targets works that have been serialized on domestic and international platforms between January 1, 2024, and May 31, 2025. Not only the author but also associations, platforms, and production companies that have received the author’s consent can apply.
The works that win the main prize will undergo a preliminary evaluation by experts including creators and industry professionals, based on the top 20 works recommended by readers and those submitted by authors and production companies. Subsequently, a final selection of 10 works will be determined through a second evaluation.
In addition, this year will also see the awarding of the 'Readers' Choice Award.' From September to October 21, a reader poll will be conducted targeting the main prize nominees, with the work receiving the most votes winning the award.
