The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 9th that the Old Jeonnam Provincial Office Restoration Promotion Team, along with the Old Jeonnam Provincial Office Restoration Council, will hold a "discussion on the name and operational plan of the restored Old Jeonnam Provincial Office building" on June 11 at Jeonil Building 245.

This discussion is part of the project to restore the Old Jeonnam Provincial Office, which was the site of the last struggle on May 18, to its state from 1980. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism plans to use the restored Old Jeonnam Provincial Office as a venue for commemorating and educating about the May 18 democratic movement once the restoration is completed.

During this discussion, the focus will be on discussing the name of the restored building and the operational entities that can reveal the identity and value of the Old Jeonnam Provincial Office building.

The presentation will be led by Jeong Young-soo, the head of Prime Strategy Research Institute, based on the results of a basic study conducted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism last year on the "organizational structure and operation plan for the restored Old Jeonnam Provincial Office building." Following this, participants from civic organizations, academia, and those related to May 18, including Lee Gi-hoon, head of the Gwangju Civil Society Support Center, Kim Hee-song, a professor at Chonnam National University’s Research Institute of Humanities, Kang Shin-gyeom, a professor at Chonnam National University’s Graduate School of Culture, and Kim Gong-hyu, general secretary of the May 18 Victims Association, will take part in the discussion.
