Netflix's biggest hit 'Squid Game' is holding a grand launching ceremony ahead of its final season.

On the 9th, Netflix will hold a press conference for 'Squid Game 3' at Seoul Dragon City in the Yongsan district of Seoul, featuring the main cast. The event will see director Hwang Dong-hyuk, who wrote and directed the series, alongside actors Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Yim Siwan, Kang Ha-neul, Wi Ha-jun, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-wook, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Jo Yuri, Chae Guk-hee, Lee David, and Noh Jae-won sharing various stories related to Season 3.

'Squid Game' is a Netflix original series that depicts the story of people participating in a mysterious survival game with a prize of 456 million won, risking their lives to become the last survivor.

'Squid Game' gained immense popularity immediately after its release. It became the first show to achieve No. 1 across all 94 countries where Netflix is officially available from Sept. 30 to Oct. 1, 2021. According to Nielsen, 'Squid Game 2' was also popular, dominating the rankings of 'the most-watched TV series of the 2024-2025 season' in an overwhelming first place.

The upcoming 'Squid Game 3' follows the game's winner and last survivor, Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), as he returns to the venue to completely end the game and faces a tragedy in which he loses his best friend Park Jeong-bae (Lee Seo-hwan) while inciting a rebellion against the organizers.

In particular, 'Squid Game 3' escalates the conflict between Gi-hun, who believes in the goodness of humanity, and the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), who distrusts humans. Director Hwang Dong-hyuk noted, 'Season 3 can be described as the emotionally strongest story showcasing the depths of humanity.'

New games are also generating excitement for Season 3. The trailer revealed a giant Younghee doll spinning a long jump rope, which has not been seen in Seasons 1 and 2, and a narrow, complex maze of alleyways, hinting at games that have not been previously shown. Additionally, it has been reported that the iconic character Younghee along with a giant Cheolsu doll will also appear.

This season returns six months after the release of Season 2, which debuted last December. This was made possible because director Hwang Dong-hyuk planned the series as a single installment, writing and filming continuously. However, it was split into two seasons at the suggestion of Netflix.

'Squid Game 3' began full-scale promotions starting from Netflix's global content showcase 'Tudum 2025', held on the 31st of last month (local time). At the event, lead actor Lee Jung-jae expressed, 'I know you are looking forward to Season 3' and stated, 'Squid Game will surprise the world one last time.'

Consisting of a total of seven episodes, 'Squid Game 3' will be released on Netflix on June 27th (Friday).
