Director Hwang Byeong-guk’s crime film ‘YADANG: The Snitch’ has become the highest-grossing film released this year, surpassing director Bong Joon-ho’s Hollywood film ‘Mickey 17.’
According to the Korean Film Council and Plus M Entertainment on the 13th, ‘YADANG: The Snitch’ has accumulated an audience of approximately 3.015 million by the previous day.
This surpasses the final audience figure of 3.013391 million for ‘Mickey 17,’ the film that attracted the most viewers this year. Notably, it is the first Korean film rated for audiences over 18 to surpass 3 million viewers since ‘The Outlaws,’ which was released in 2019.
‘YADANG: The Snitch,’ released on the 16th of last month, has maintained the top spot at the daily box office for a total of 25 days and continues to thrive at the box office. Competing films such as ‘Minecraft Movie,’ ‘Thunderbolts,’ ‘Holy Night: Demon Hunters,’ and ‘The Old Woman with the Knife’ have been released, but they have not been able to stop the box office dominance of ‘YADANG: The Snitch.’
Meanwhile, the film ‘YADANG: The Snitch’ revolves around a broker who provides information on drug crimes to law enforcement while profiting from it.
